Does God hate gays / homosexuals?
does God hate gays, does God hate homosexuals
ANSWER

There is a “church” in the United States that promotes the slogan “God hates fags.” This group pickets gay parades, gay bars, gay events, gay funerals, etc. This group also sometimes protests at military funerals, claiming that the soldier was killed because the USA is supporting the homosexual agenda. Is there any truth to their claims? Does God hate gay people?

Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us, “There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.” Notice that homosexuality does not make this list. It would be more biblical to promote phrases such as “God hates liars” and “God hates murderers.” While the Bible declares that God hates all workers of iniquity (Psalm 5:5), the Bible nowhere singles out homosexuals as objects of God’s hatred.

That does not mean, however, the Bible approves of homosexuality. The Bible consistently tells us that homosexuality is a sin (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches explicitly that homosexuality is a result of a continual rebellion against God. When people continue in disbelief, the Bible tells us that God “gives them over,” allowing them to experience their sinful desires and the resulting consequences. First Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. Homosexuality is immoral and unnatural. It is a disruption of the “natural order” and, more importantly, of God’s view of sexuality.

With all that said, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a greater sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God.

According to the Bible, all have sinned and are outside the kingdom of God in their own merit (Romans 3:23; 6:23). No one is good enough. But God’s offer of forgiveness is through Jesus Christ is extended to all people; anyone who puts his faith in Jesus can be forgiven of all his sin and become God’s child (John 1:12; 3:16–18; Ephesians 2:1–10). God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, fornicator, idol worshiper, thief, greedy person, etc.—it is equally available to all sinners, which is all human beings. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (2 Corinthians 5:17). First Corinthians 6:11 says, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (emphasis added).

Does God approve of homosexuality? No. Can a person truly be a Christian and at the same time a practicing homosexual? According to 1 Corinthians 6:9, no.

While Christians should stand firm in the biblically based conviction that homosexuality is sin, we must also keep the tone of the message biblically based. Ephesians 4:15 instructs us to “speak the truth...in love.” First Peter 3:15 teaches us to proclaim the truth, but to do so with “gentleness and respect.” Our message should be focused on the forgiveness and freedom from sin that are available through the Lord Jesus Christ.

God's Wrath on Unrighteousness
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
Rom 1:19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
Rom 1:20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
Rom 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Rom 1:22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,
Rom 1:25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;
Rom 1:27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Rom 1:28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Rom 1:29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
Rom 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Rom 1:32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

1 Kings 15:12
12 He expelled the male shrine prostitutes from the land and got rid of all the idols his ancestors had made.

Leviticus 18:22
22 “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.

Romans 1:32
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Romans 1:27
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Leviticus 18:22-24
22 “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.
23 “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.
24 “ ‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

Leviticus 20:13
13 “ ‘If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Timothy 1:8-11
8 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.
9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

Hebrews 13:1-5
Hebrews 13:5
1 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
3 Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

John 8:7-11
7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Romans 1:26-28
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.
27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

Galatians 5:14
14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Jude 1:5-8
5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.
6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.
7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
8 In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.

Mark 10:6-9
6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’
7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
8 and the two will become one flesh.’So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

1 Corinthians 7:2
2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.

Romans 13:8-10
8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
9 The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

1 Corinthians 6:17-20
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
17 But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Romans 1:18-32
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

For a church to say ''God hates fags'' is very detestable. They would not lead anyone to Jesus I would imagine.

When Jesus helped the lady in adultery that was going to be stoned to death, He acted in love for her. He did tell her to go and sin no more. After that act of love (Him saving her life), I am pretty sure she did not continue in the sin.

God does not hate anyone. He hates their sin only. We know from scripture that God still speaks to the devil, Jesus spoke politely to him in the wilderness and the fallen angels, He honored their request to be cast into swine. This is not evidence of ''hate'' and I am pretty sure we could all agree on the fact that the devil is perhaps the chiefest of sinners.

Christians teaching that unrepentant homosexuals will be in heaven however is error and false teaching. I assume that church has taken such a hard line as a result of all those that are not teaching it as a sin.

When God calls something an abomination Lev 18:22, it should cause all to take note and avoid such. You cannot say ''I love you God'' if you are doing something He calls an abomination.
''With all that said, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a greater sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God.''

@Johann , I don't believe it is correct to put a fullstop after ''all sin is sin''. Sin is sin and sin has degrees.

Jesus clearly states we are all sinners in Matt 5:28 Thoughts = sin. Then in Matt 5:32 explains that unless their is actual sexual immorality / adultery, we must not divorce. Christians who espouse sin is sin, are teaching a half truth. Crazy doctrines can come from this line of thinking. The whole OT had sins categorized. In the NT we read Paul isolating a sinner guilty of incest in 1 Cor 5, not isolating a child who stole candy from the candy store. We see in 1 Cor 6:1-9 that Paul urges us to judge matters better then the unsaved as one-day we will judge angels.

Now if we are to judge homosexuality, I would think it should go like this:

Sex is very enticing. Homosexuality is not a sin that would necessarily trigger guilt if you are doing it with consenting adults. We all agree that rape is wicked. A sexual sin that does trigger guilt and will get everyone's approval of a long sentence or death penalty. But something like homosexuality does not. As such, we need to be very patient and understanding with those in it. They are not trying to be 'wicked'. Their sin is against God, their Creator, not their fellow man.

Today with society pushing this sin, we find a lot more children growing up in an environment where the sin is normalised. God most certainly considers this when He judges someone. I would.

All this aside, without a doubt, when we repent and ask Jesus into our lives, He gives us strength to overcome all sin. All those things we do that upsets Him. I was one who battled with sexual sin, after I repented and Jesus came into my life, I no longer do.

God can both love and hate as stated in the Bible. He can love the sinner and hate the sin. Does God not love Lucifer but hate he'll never repent? Yes.
Love never means accepting everything a person does. Love means NOT joining in and supporting their sins and bad decisions.
*Westboro Baptist Church. It is not a church but a cult of lawyers who are all related. They know that they are doing when they picket and protest. There was a call to anyone to come support and protect them from any protestors. Hundreds of not more military and veterans showed up myself included. I wore my uniform. A biker gang showed up. Thousands of people easily. They showed up and stayed at the distance limit. The masses...we went down to voice ourselves on our side. They didn't last long. Combined with the yells and motors of hundreds of bikers you couldn't hear anything they said. Might have been there 30 minutes before they gave up.
Those statements show they do NOT know who God is nor are they Christian. Jesus came and showed us the middle ground did he not?
God set the human standard with Adam and Eve and again Jesus himself. Anything outside of "one man to one woman, married, and optimally with children" is sin. There is no middle ground for sins. True change results in a new person.
Being LGB or T+ is a choice.

  • All sins are not equal. Equal in they all lead to death and away from God but in seriousness and punishment for the unrepentant they are not. OP has listed many of them and how some are worse. There is no debate. God said and it is like it or not.
  • God knows our hearts and minds so this idea that lustful thoughts without action are not sin is 100% wrong and absurd.
  • There are two sides. Good vs evil. Many have chosen and they will never change. They would gladly walk into Hell while giving God the finger.
  • There is no point in getting with and thinking you'll win over potential spouse. It's a wasted life.
  • Avoid Reddit for any help. That place is the Sodom and Gomorrah of the internet.

First of all, homosexuality is a BEHAVIOR, not an identity. No one wants to identify themselves as a thief, a murderer, a cheater, a porn addict, an extortioner, but thanks to Satan's propaganda machine, many proudly identify themselves as gay based on their homosexuality behavior, and the transgender movement will just greatly increase their number. We're all taught to love the sinner and HATE THE SIN, but in their case, when their sin is tied to their identity, hating sin is hating sinners. Therefore this tie must be broken first, get rid of this label of this group identity, lead the individual to Christ, one soul at a time. Our only identity is a child of God redeemed by the blood of Christ!

Here we go.
All of the LGB and T+ will identify as that. "I am.....".
Typing all caps doesn't prove anything.
They willfully embraced that life and there are no "LGB or T+ Christians".

We're all sinners who have fallen short of God's grace, none of us is more righteous than they in God's eyes. It is counterintuitive to comprehend this truth, that identity leads to behavior, not behavior to identity. Even Satan understands that, that's why homosexuality is being promoted as an identity instead of a lifestyle or a kink. Homosexuality is extraordinarily malicious because Satan uses that to upend God's design of marriage institution between a man and a woman, the foundation of any civilization. Satan uses it to build his own counterfeit version, and that must be exposed.

Sin is sin if we r guilty of one we r guilty of all so tho one may think a "white" lie is acceptable to YH over one who may b committing murder is lying to themselves for it is written

If we r guilty of one we r guilty of all

Read my post again,I say sin is sin, agreed. But sin also has degrees.

All angels sin. Only God is perfect. Yet a third were cast out. How can this be unless sin has degrees.

Also, you have made no attempt to face the scriptural examples of sin categorized in my post.

You make no sense sin is sin yet has its degrees? Yet only sin that is unforgivable is blasphemy you agree?

I see there is sin that leads not to death n there is sin that does n as I can see only One will Judge righteously for He sees all our hearts

Why is the degree of sin of such importance to you don't you just cringe at the thought of Hurting our Father for all He has done for Us

I don't see how this glorifies YH or is even bringing one closer
It just causes confusion for the babies in Chrsit n that's not what His Children do for others

But at last if this is of the utmost importance to you then whom am I to question why that's between u n YH

But as for me sin is sin n I will continuesly pray for me to Love n Worship Him perfectly

God desires all to REPENT and to turn away from doing evil

Romans 6:20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
21 But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Mark 7:20 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him.
21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,
22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.
23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.
22:15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Where does it say that "all angels sin"? They live with God, not in this broken and fallen world. Those 1/3 were cast out because they rebeled with Satan.

"that identity leads to behavior, not behavior to identity" - By who's authority?
You don't know the mind of Satan either.
This reeks of you supporting them in their lifestyle choices rather than what God has said about it. There is no middle ground for their sexual sins in this regard or anyone elses.
Satan twists and ruins what God has created.
You cannot separate identity from behavior. A behavior equals a label be it good or bad and therefore an identity.

By God's authority, who justified His people through the blood of Christ His only son. His salvation leads to good works, not good works lead to salvation. And God has said about homosexuality, it is but one particular sin among a list of many offenses in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

Your comment reeks of hypocrisy, what makes you think your sin is more acceptable? Do you want to be labeled by your sin? Or to accept and confess that you're a believer who struggles with sin? There's a huge difference between these two, and that is identity.

Of course they sin :).

The devil's sin is mortal and unrepentant. That is why he is was removed.

1 John 3:8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning.

In 1 Cor 6:3 Paul tells us that we will judge angels oneday. As the fallen angels have been judged,he is referring to those in heaven. Now, judged on what if not their sin.

No they don't. That's referring to the third fallen angels, those "sons of God" in Jobs 1 that followed Satan, not the rest.

See my post 17 to Twistie and please try grasp that only God is perfectly without sin Mark 10:18.
