If you begin a study on the Ecumenical Creeds, they define basic Christian belief according to the entire Church. They determine what sects are cults and which ones are not. Any cult book will spell this out. The Symbol of Chalcedon is one of the Ecumenical Creeds. It refutes the Nestorian Heresy. That should get you started.

In my entry I asked you a question about something you had said in your post that I did not understand. I thank you for supplying the information you have, but I will not look up the various creeds for they do not interest me. I have all that I need in the Bible that I have at my fingertips.

Many say this, but do not understand that the creeds are based on debates over the years that stood the best challenges the heretics could throw at them. Here's a challenge. Explain the person of Christ in a simple sentence. And I'll give you the creed version in a simple sentence that proved to be scriptural.

With respect, 'No'. For you do not answer my questions. I do not need man's words to define the person of Christ, or their opinion expressed on any other matter of doctrine. I have God's word.

There are many false Christs. Only one true. And it is in knowing the truth about his person. Suit yourself. Did you know the OT Jews worshipped idols of their imagination thinking it was YWHW?

The one and only Jesus Christ is the Son of God as presented in God's Word / Bible. He was on this earth born of the virgin Mary -- which enabled Him to be 100 % deity and 100 % human. He alone could die on the cross with our sins upon Him, shed His blood , be buried and rise again on the 3rd day. And after 40 days after His bodily resurrection, He ascended back up to heaven where God the Father was.

An anti-Christ is anyone who teaches anything other than Christ , crucified and risen again. Jesus Christ being the Son of God.

In the Old Testament there were many 'gods' that the people groups worshipped. The Old Testament Jews did not look past the 1st five books of the Old Testament. The book of Isaiah 7:14 gives the prophesy concerning the coming Christ child.

They had the Old Testament prophets to listen to. To guide them. They had Godly kings and Not so Godly ones. There were some very Evil kings.

They knew it wasn't God they were worshipping. It was between Baal and the Lord God and many others. They had a very short attention span for believing in and worshipping God and then falling away Again. A great deal like Nowdays.
We Also have God's Word -- do we read it - take it seriously? or do we let it collect dust and pick it back up at Christmas time / Resurrection Sunday.

What do We worship as 'god's' in our lives.

The only Church we need be concerned about is the one who's foundation is Jesus Christ. He is the Cornerstone. The Church being the Bride of Christ / the Universal church made up of all born again believers from the past , now and in the future.
