Hi there Clara and welcome to your family here at Talk Jesus.
I am very happy to hear that you believe in Jesus Christ, that is a fantastic start for you, in fact I think you've done the main thing in your walk with God already, to believe. The belief you have now that Christ is the savior and the only way to God is your faith that you are putting into action.
To help yourself believe in eternal life you would need to....use exactly that same faith that you are currently using now, (to believe in Christ whom you have not seen), and believe in His words about eternal life too, with that very same faith my friend.
You were not saved (an no one ever will be) by the amount of work or good deeds that we do. However, as your faith grows, as you get to know and love God more you will naturally want to do things for the Lord, and there are a million good deeds that await us to do. Your works will be in conjunction with your faith, your works must not try to prove your faith, your faith will give birth to good works which your Father in heaven has already prepared for you to do since before the creation of the world, now that is seriously cool my sista, don't ya jus think LOL. Hebrews 13:16, 2 Corinthinthians 9:8
All of us have been saved by God's grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ of Nazareth....Ephesians 2:5. And that is how we are to continue our walk, even when we fall flat on our faces or go play in the dirty mud that God has just cleansed us from. We get up and go on...BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH.....by God's mercy in faith....we repent, believe in the Powerful life giving Word of God that we are forgiven...1 John 1:9..we receive God's gift of grace (unmerited pardon) for us by faith...and we go on. So now you know that nothing you can do will qualify you for eternal life, this is what God saw and that is why God provided the onetime, alltime, pure acceptable sacrifice on our behalf, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and what Jesus has already done, if you only believe, you will be made qualified, WOW, thank you Father God for such generosity, for such GRACE. Yeeha.
You will never become perfect while you live on this earth, but we certainly do strive for it and as we get stonger and stronger (only by the power of the Holy Spirit) to overcome issues in our lives, we all learn not to DWELL on our mistakes and even our willfull sins, Psalm 51 is a good prayer to pray. You too will grow my sister and learn (it is a process) to believe the Word of God more and more and by doing this you will be keeping your eyes on God and not your sinful nature. Hallelujah.
Keep the faith sister
Yours warmly in Christ
