A Call to Anguish

I love brother Dave and he has spoken to my heart many times but I wonder if he understands the power that is in worshipping God. THe church really seems to be pressing into worship nowadays and that brings much joy to the Father's heart. Music is not taking over the house of God but was invented by God Himself. There is still plenty to anguish over and plenty of space to do it.

I think you'l find that David's speaking of music in church as more like a performance and concert then an act of worship. If you take a look at the Times Square Church you can see they get really into their music, and with right reason, like you have mentioned. I think Dave speaks of something along the lines of Malachi chapter one. The action of worship is there, but the heart is not in the worship, and so it does not bring God glory.

Not trying to defend him necessarily, thats just what I believe he's speaking of.

That's the same message I got from the video, and I even
downloaded it to my Mp3. In my own church, we have just members of our church that got together and formed their own band, and I think we are blessed with these people, that they love God and the church and everyone in it so much as to do this for us. They go to practice at eachother's houses 3 times a week, and they don't even have to! And their reward is seeing people really get into the music, and praise God through it. But one day I decided to look around, and I noticed I was the only one lifting my hands and even a few were just standing, they weren't even singing. I do believe that music is a good way to worship, and the Lord loves for us to, but it only pleases Him when we are reaching out for His presence as we do so. Sometimes I cry, and sometimes, I feel so joyous while singing, because I know that He is the only one worthy of my praise. It disappoints me that others in my church don't feel the same.
