I don't know if this is the right forum but I just wanted to share something.

I attended John's funeral and memorial service yesterday. And I have to tell you I have never been to one quite like it. It was a wonderful celebration of this man's life and a testimony to our Lord and Saviour.

It was joyful, there was a sadness too but we were also praising God, the wife or widow, had a peaceful way about her, there was no sobbing or wailing, no breaking down. There were tears in the room at times. I shed a tear, but it was just hearing the loving stories, the wonderful testimonies of John's life and how he served God and how he loved Jesus so much. And how so many of us who attended who are believers in Christ, just had a peace and joy of knowing where John is right now. It is the most comforting thing in the world.

How do non-believers get through such things? It bothers me immensely. I continue to pray for the salvation of my family and loved ones, I really do, I just cannot imagine how it would be to lose someone I loved and not have that sure knowledge whether they were saved or not.

I think that a Christian's thanksgiving service is something so special.

I attended one last week but the man had only given his life to Jesus at the last as he did not have long left to live but Jesus knew it was the only way he would come.

It was still a beautiful service and one of the best I remember attending for a long time.

There were a lot of unsaved family members there and they heard that they need salvation today as tomorrow may never come. They might not get the same opportunity this dear man had with being ill with cancer.

Now he is in no more pain. The daughter had heard from God that He would take him on Good Friday and he went to be with Jesus at 6.30 pm that very day.

What a wonderful awesome God we serve.

He is so amazing.

Thank you for sharing with us calluna

God bless

LOrd Jesus I bring calluna's family before you as I pray today......I ask dear Lord that you have mercy upon them, and bring them to know you, as their own personal Saviour.

In Jesus Name.

I come from a big family of churchgoers, and have been to around 12 funerals in my time, and they have all been a celebration of their lives. People don't understand how we can feel so comforted when we've lost a loved one, but I don't understand how others can bear the grief on their own without having God to lean on in those times.

My Grandma died about 4 years ago, and she was a Christian, and her funeral was lovely, except for one aunt who is not Christian and her grief has lasted for so long. She has not got over it even now.

I have two sisters who were brought up in the faith but are not Christians now, so I pray that they come to know God and I can be sure we'll all meet again in heaven.
