this is what I try to get ever one of my friends i Christ to do First the five finger Prayer, Then to read a Verse, then write a thought about that Verse: Take the verse and the thought And write a Prayer. Example:
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
(1Jn 4:9 KJV)
Thought: Love is a verb we can not say enough, notjust saying it but it has to be shown thebeging of Love is God, he showed his love in a sacrifcial way so we would see the true value to him. The price of adoption, emptied the heaven of its greatest treacher, God the Son, who is our Savior.
Prayer: Loving Father, thank you for adopting me into your family,I can neaverthank you enough Or ever repay you for you kindness and Love.
But please recieve the service of my life today as a thankyou for your grace and a small way of trying toshare your love you gave Me. Through my Brother and my ramsom I pray AMEN

Excellent, time spent on prayer and reading the Word is always well spent.
Whenever I read the bible I always take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to help me to understand the Word and how it applies to my life today. Jesus sent Him to be our Teacher and our Paraclete (the One who walks with us) and when I pray I ask Him to help me to pray as I ought. Only when He breathes upon the Word does it come alive to me. This has helped me immensly.

What a wonderful way to draw closer to our Heavenly Father!
Not just knowing Him but having a true personal relationship with Him.
What a blessing!

Your sister in Christ, Trish

JD1951, that's a good way to spend time with the Lord. DH and I are reading a devotional Bible (the Bible in one year) and I want it to be intermingled with my daily life so I have a journal that I write in like a diary. First, ALWAYS, I start with prayer for the Holy Spirit's guidance to the Word. I make notes on today's reading - any questions I need further guidance on, my understanding of the passage, etc. and jot down thoughts & events in my life (diary-like).

I thank the Lord each and every day. I count my blessings and read the Bible so I could follow in his foot steps.

God Bless

Reading the Bible and prayer.

I usually pray that the Holy Spirit grants me wisdom each day. I designate prayer time at night but find myself talking to the Lord during the day too. I mean, there is so much to pray for!
A lot of times, I find good inspiration for prayer in the Psalms, asking the Lord to "Hear my prayer and my cry."
Right now I'm reading a lot of devotional books which have Scripture verses in them. Sometimes they bring to mind certain areas of life I need to work on. I need to learn how to love...I love Jesus with all my heart but sometimes get withdrawn from other people.
I'm currently reading Acts of the Apostles as I am interested in the Early Christians. I get myself very busy with books on theology and devotion and even read a book by the Pope! LOL
Sometimes it helps to see Christ through the eyes of others.
Peace to you all.
