A sincere smile

Here's a simple share about something off-topic! I'm 54 years old and trying to finish my bachelors degree at the fancy Baptist university. I get lots of comments every day. Apparently, many believe at my age I must be hearing impaired? Lol

Today as I walked into a building, two young ladies looked at me and burst into laughter. The one said to the other loudly, "Now there's one I'd like to catch up with about her life!!!" Then they burst into furiously vehement laughter. I fell into footsteps behind them. The one who had said it, turned around and looked me right in the face.

With a sincere voice and smile, I said, "Yes, it would be great if I had time. My life is going very well."

They didn't know what to do.

I feel good about it. The last time I was made fun of, I didn't respond well, because I was so tired of the stuff. But today God helped me. Sometimes it's best to say nothing. In fact, most of the time it's best to say nothing. But today I felt that God put that good, matter-of-fact attitude in me and gave me that voice and the words and the smile. Thank You, Lord.

Thanks for sharing this Dreamer. It is never too late to be what God wants us to be. Abraham had God's promise, but still had doubts as to how it could be done through an old man and an old woman. It is only too late when they are shoveling the dirt over your face. Give God the glory!

Returning to education displays great strenght and character. Those who enter a classroom with life experience bring with them hard earned tools which cannot be taught by any lecturer. Fortunate are the younger generation who recognize this, i have seen many a young person reap great advantages from learning alongside someone who has earned their stripes in the real world.
