now, the internet/computer is a very helpful and resourceful tool, whether it be for coming here on this delightful site, using it for school, or simply for some fun eg.(games, talking with friends, etc..) however, with me it seems that it takes up so much of my day, when i could be using my time for better purposes. especially after school and the other daily activiites that i partake in, i am tired physically and mentally ( as we all are i assume) and i just sit infront of the computer and come one here or do other things.

But I feel that the whole time i am on the computer, that i am just wasting my life away( not that dramatic) but still, it feels, for me atleast, like a huge waste of time. SOmetimes i really wish the computer didnt exist because it feels for me like a huge distraction. Although the computer is very useful, and I am greatful for it, I just think i shouldnt spend so much time on it.

I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this that maybe could help me not spend so much time on the computer. It doesnt seem like that big of a deal i guess, but I dont know, i feel i could be using my time spent on the computer for better purposes eg.( spending time with God, reading, doing school work, etc.)

let me know what you think. Thank you for your time.

Peace and Love, God Bless.

depending what you are doing on the puter if you are in TJ you are spending time with God, yes it can be a distraction but allow yourself so much time a day like maybe an hour set a timer if need be and be disaplined. Its easy to shut the outside world out and stay online i have done it myself but as i said only allow yourself so much time on the puter and use it wisely.

well sir, i had a similar problem. But you know what i did? I told myself i couldnt do it anymore EVER. Then my mind started thinking about things i supposed to be doing such as drumming and homework. Then i had a few ours left after doing everything, and then i let myself do that thing! So i made myself think that i couldnt do it ever again so it would put myself in a different mood to do other things. It slowly built myself some self controll over the subject and things became better.

Hello Brother Euphoricforest,

Looking at your profile I see that you are a young man. At your age their will be far more important things you could/ought to be doing. You are right to say that you feel that you are wasting time........this could be true.

You need to put your mind to your schooling. This is vital at your age. There will be other things too I am sure.

Best thing will be to limit your time on the pc. to half hour. Perhaps only then when other things have been sorted.

God Bless You

all excellent advice. I really should only give myself a set time to use the computer, that wayi have time to do other things. Also jsut refusing to go on when i get the idea to go on will help me build discipline.

and i do focus on my schoolwork. The computer usually comes after im done with that, which usually still is a waste of my time.

So thank you all, great advice, just what i was looking for

God Bless all!!!
much love.

Write down on a piece of paper your priorities. Examine the list and determine which you are not accomplishing each day and which you are. Look at it and see, are you giving GOD enough time? Prayer and just quietness in His presence? I have simliar issues but for me its different. I run this ministry and I run a web hosting company, so both online. But, keep in mind if your browsing good sites such as Talk Jesus or some other Scriptural / Christian based website, it is not necessary a waste of time is it? You are gaining wisdom through these sites (assuming they are Scripture basd, therefore edifying).

Number one priority is always time with Jesus Christ. Its vital, its critical, its necessary as the air we breathe. Its hard, but still we know this is true.

As everyone says at your age you need to put priority though you can access many things online. But you can be preapring for SAT for college and other things enjoy your youth and especially high school for many they were the good days. You did right to eseek out advice for this be bless and just discipline yourself.

Love Shortlady
