A bill in Congress makes it a crime for pastors and churches to speak against homosexuality

Message to pastors and other Christians: Just keep your mouth shut

If pastors and other Christians don’t aggressively oppose a bill now in Congress, in the near future they will be subject to huge fines and prison terms if they say anything negative about homosexuality.
The proposed law would make it a crime to preach on Romans Chapter 1 or I Corinthians Chapter 6. Or even to discuss them in a Sunday School class. If churches and individuals want to keep the government from telling them what they can and cannot preach and teach about homosexuality, they better get involved now!
Senate bill S. 1105 would make negative statements concerning homosexuality, such as calling the practice of homosexuality a sin from the pulpit, a “hate crime” punishable by law. This dangerous legislation would take away your freedom of speech and your freedom of religion. Consider what has already happened:
  • A California lawsuit which is headed to the U.S. Supreme Court would make the use of the words “natural family,” “marriage” and “union of a man and a woman” a “hate speech” crime in government workplaces. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has already ruled in favor of the plaintiffs!
  • CNN and The Washington Post both reported that General Peter Pace, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was fired because he publicly expressed moral opposition to homosexual behavior.

Take Action
We are looking for one million Americans willing to take a stand and not allow a small group of homosexual activists to take away our freedoms. Can we count on you? Click on the link below to sign our Petition to Congress in Defense of Religious Freedom.

Please forward this to others, especially your pastor, and ask them to get involved in protecting our freedoms of speech and religion. This threat to our religious freedoms is real!

Jesus is Lord,

I got this news alert from AFA also it's hard to see that freedom being attacked, but we have the victory in Christ and no weapon form against us shall prosper.

God bless everyone.

Thanks for posting it.

Thanks Chad. I signed the petition immediately I got the email from AFA and I would urge others to do the same. This news is so shocking.

Within the last 24hrs, more than 15,000 people have voted in that petition. praise GOD! Let it reach beyond the 1,000,000 mark goal they have set!

Thanks for the info Chad. I've posted exactly the same message on two other forums. Probably like us lots of people are taking it seriously.

That is unfortunate, because this is another Urban myth, I am afraid, or perhaps "deliberate act of disinformation" would be more appropriate.

The site system prevents me from posting the snopes link, but if you search snopes for "AFA" it's about the third link down. The bill in question actually has a specific clause protecting free speech

Urban myth? No. So please tell me, why you find this snopes site (which I've checked and full of vulgar language, immature people on their forums) more reliable than a Christian based organization like AFA who provides all possible information on the bill, their contact info, etc? AFA is well known and does not ask for money like a beggar. They simply ask for an online petition support, rightfully so. Just because "snopes" reports it as false, does not mean they are right. In fact, they are not. I've been familiar with AFA for years and I know they are legit hands down.

This particular petition is to protect our preachers right to speak the Word of GOD, here the subject being homosexuality which this supposed bill would make such preach to be considered illegal. This is un-American. It violates our freedom of speech and freedom of religion. That ridiculous snopes site totally twisted the motive around, foolishly. The comments were so lame its unreal. They make it sound like Christians hate homosexuals. As if they knew every Christian on the face of the earth. I certainly would not choose 'snopes' forum/site over AFA at all. That would be completely silly to do so.

Sorry Chad, I thought I saw snopes in your online protection thread as a valid resource. I was clearly mistaken.

That's ok. Not a big deal. I just wanted to clarify by presenting the points I made in my last post so no one falls for any "review" site, especially the snopes one which is merely filled with opinions. AFA is very reliable indeed. They are doing what GOD called them to do, to protect this countries moral standards at least by using freedom of speech.
