SAVED:
DICTIONARY DEFINITION
to stop someone or something from being kiled, injured, or destroyed
BIBLE DEFINITION
saved (yaw-shah’)a` (yaw-shah’ english:
1). delivered, or given victory in a battle.
2 Sa 22:4-5 I will call upon Jahweh, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies ."
Saved from what ?
The ennemie in our case is death,
1 Cor 15:26 The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.
DOCTRINAL DEFINITION
1).If you ... accept the salvation from our savior ....you’re saved.
2). What are we saved from?
In the Christian doctrine of salvation, We are saved from both the power and penalty of sin.
3). Who does the saving? Only God can remove sin and deliver us from sin’s penalty.
You will notice that the definition of saved is pretty much the same in all three sources.
Except for one almost indercernible difference in the Doctrinal definition # 1).
there it states:
"If you ... accept the salvation from our savior ....you’re saved."
In other words FAITH=SAVED
This much accepted premise, is FALSE.
The scripture used for this definition is
( Joh 3:16 )"...he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
However
We have to keep in mind that Joh 3:16 is showing only one side of the coin. Of course no one is disputing it's value, but there is another side that cannot be ignored.
Jam 2:19 ...the demons also believe, and shudder.
shows that belief is NOT enough.
Jam 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but have not works? can that faith save him?
This is adding information to John 3, not contradicting him.
James clearly states faith ALONE does not lead to salvation.
Christendom is applying to the term "saved" a meaning that goes beyond the definition that the Bible attaches to it.
Sometimes even going to the length of believing "once saved always saved"
However:.
Eze 3:20 ...when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, ..., he shall die: ... and his righteous deeds which he hath done shall not be remembered;...
According to BIBLE definition a person can only be ""saved" AFTER the battle, not during it.
This is true even if the instrument of salvation is fighting at your side.
The premise that a person can already be saved BEFORE he has proven faithful unto death, is a premise not based on the scriptures.
The apostle paul confirm"s this:
"... 12. Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on ...13. Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: ...14. I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling ..."
Let's not be fooled, only those that ENDURE will be saved.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure UNTO THE END, ... shall be saved.
