An important question about my salvation

Hi guys, I'm quite troubled by what I read one of the threads here. It talks about easy-believism, where people think that "mere-belief" without the repentence and the change of heart means your saved. I go to church and serve in the photography and altar ministry and am able to speak in tongues.
I used to be addicted to pornography but every single time I did it, I would repent and ask God for forgiveness and promised Him that I wouldnt do it again but I'll still fall short. But a few weeks back, I decided to get baptized in water and give up all my sinful addictions to completely follow Christ. Then the devil started to put thoughts of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit in my head, I rebuked them at once but they kept afflicting me. I know in my heart that I wanna go to heaven and that whatever the devil tried to make me think was not of out freewill.
My main point is, does it mean if I continue in my sinful bondage that I was never really saved in the first place?

Thank you for all your valuable reply

Thankyou for your honesty and concern Ultrasonic.

There are many ways to answer, I'll try keep it simple. Dont post your answers unless you want to.

Do you desire to do God's will above all else, even though you fall short?

Do you want eternal life because you don't want to go to Hell, or because you want to know God? John 17:3

Do you believe that by Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection, and these alone, that you will go to Heaven, and not because of anything you can do?

Lastly, what makes you different to those mentioned in Matt 7:21-23? You may have already answered this.

The Gospel is that we're sinners, but we have a saviour in Jesus Christ, if we believe in Him as our Saviour from our sin and subsequently God's wrath, and desire to earnestly try to serve Him as Lord in your life, you will be saved. No one can tell you your saved, regardless of what information you may tell us, because we don't know your heart. Its not enough to trust your heart that your saved, Jeremiah 17:9. You need to objectively know your saved by the truth that is in the Bible. I hope those questions will be able to help you know where you stand. If your unsure, don't give up, keep striving to work out your salvation.

God bless

To be honest, I always wanted to do God's will but in certain situations, I don't really put Him first.

I definitely want eternal life but it used to be more so because I fear a eternity in hell but whenever I feel compelled to change my bad habits it is because I want to please God.

And yes I believe that God died for all sins, past present and future.

Am I right in saying that God used this whole situation to open my eyes about my selfishness and to actually draw me closer to Him?

Lastly, does that mean only now when I am unselfish in my desires then I have truly been saved?

Dear ultrasonic
No it doesnt mean you are not saved. However it could mean that you may need what the word of God calls 'deliverance' from certain demonic influences in your life. Let me know what you think of this answer.

Thank you for reply! I believe God's telling me that I allowed a certain part of my life to be demonized and so through there, the devil works and I don't completely fix my eyes on Jesus but that does not mean I was not saved. It is just that I was selfish in my desires.

Hi Dude
Thats a pretty cool question with great honesty!

I too have sufferd all that you speak off and still battle and have to keep my self in check. The Fisrt thing i want to say is that if your still sinning you cannot lose your salvation! thats not what salvation is about. salvation is knowing that god has freed you from sin so you dont have to live by its rules, god opens your eyes and gives you an option to live life without the sin that is bugging the nuts out of you! if ya get what i mean. You see the bible say that if a man says he is without sin then he is lieing. but your the blessed one dude you know that god does not hold that sin against you there for you are free to walk away from it. Its a bit like you were once married to sin and he knows you really well, and knows just how to push your buttons, then one day this really sexy dude called Jesus came along saw you and said hey dude i wanna marry you! you took one look at him fell in love and as part of your marrige you died with jesus and when you rose up agin with him you were married to him. jesus gave the devil a kicking to the keys took his home(hell) and then walked into a shiny new future with his bride! that being You!. Then all of a sundden you find your old hubby nocking on your door and pushing your buttons because he knows you well enough to get you out to play with him. Then you feel bad because you have closed your eyes to your husband (jesus) then jesus smiles back at you and says come on dude follow me, i will show you how it works. you take his hand and when the old hubby comes nocking again you shout at him and tell him some truths about who you are. and in time your new identiy will become your reallity.

Your a mighty man dude, change your state jump up and down and declaire it when the old hubby habbits come knocking, Jesus says be tranzformed by the renewing of your mind! So you have salvation you just need to line up your new identiy to now become your reality.

PS sorry about spelling :-)

It is actually so easy that it is hard, if that makes sense.
I am not sure where you came across this "mere-believism", perhaps it was a misunderstanding but, from my understanding of the Holy Spirit, it is just a matter of belief! God says (paraphrasing), "that if you are truely seeking Him, then your only sin that will keep you seperated from Him is the sin of unbelief, EVERY other sin that we commit has already been paid for at the cross.

As far as repentance goes, is a one-time acknowledgement of your sinfull nature and that you are totally dependent on Jesus Christ for your salvation. To repeatedly go to God asking for forgiveness every day or whenever you think to do it, is like telling Him that what Jesus did on the cross was not sufficient. In other words, how many times do you expect Jesus to die on the cross for you? He died once for all and for all sins! In Jesus Christ you do not get forgiveness, rather, in Jesus Christ you are forgiven! Jesus said (paraphrasing) at the cross: " it is finished"; not Him but His task of taking care of your sin, It is done, forever and God said He would look at your sin no more.

The only other task other than the above belief about your forgiveness, is if you are "Born Again". Have you pesonally thanked Jesus for what He did on the cross for you, the finallity of it and then invited Him in to yourself, in to your heart? Jesus said (paraphrasing) to come to the Father, to have salvation and eternal life, you must invite Him in and therefore go through Him to the Father.

Have you been born again? If you have, start living in the truth and peace of that, it is over, Jesus said so!
Now, if you haven't or you are not sure, then let's do it again for the first time. If you want to be sure, here is a suggested prayer. Get in a quite place of meditation, open up your heart to Jesus Christ and talk to him directly and personally, claim His forgiveness for your sins, once and for all and say:
Lord Jesus, I need You. I confess that I have been in control of my life and as a result have sinned against You. Thank You for dying for the forgiveness of my sins. Come into my heart. Take control of my life and make me the kind of person that You want me to be. As an expression of my faith I now thank You for coming into my life and for giving me eternal life.

Now, if you have done this, " for the first time", then all you sins past, present and future are forgiven. You are saved, have eternal life in Heaven and are a child of God. Sometime we can talk more exstinsevely about what it means to be a child of God, this is really awesome!

Now 3 more things:
  1. The Bible tells us (parahphrasing): that " it is by faith (believing) in Grace that you are saved and it is not by your works unless you could boast! So, in all love and respect, I ask that you stop this non-sense about speaking in tongues, and because of the above, the Lord holds no value in it with regards to your salvation.
  2. Water baptism can be a wonderful experience as an outward expressing of your love and dedication to Jesus Christ but, in itself, it has nothing to do with your salvation. Again, if it did, it would be salvation dependent on something that you have to do. Remember, Grace is the death, burial and resurrected life of Jesus Christ. And God says that this Grace is a gift and it is free, again, no works on our part.
  3. Your sin of ponography. Ultrasonic, please listen clearly. The mere fact that you are distressed about it is that the Holy Spirit is working in your life, otherwise, you would not think twice about it. This sin has already been taken care of at the cross, believe it and live in it. We are not perfect yet, that is another great discussion and, until our perfection comes, we are subject to some form of sin in our lives. God is perfection and there is no existence of negativety in His being. Ultrasonic, the truth is, that, for example, if we are negative about anything in our life, then that is not of God and therefore is sinful. Now, to God, this sin of negativity is no worse that your ponography or a sin that I might commit. When it happens and when the Holy Spirit convicts you, thank Him for what Jesus did on the cross and pray that He will work in your life to remove this sin from you, HIS WILL not yours. Just because pornography is still in your life, it does not mean that you are not forgiven or saved. It is a process of Him refining you: it is not going to happen over night. Keep working on it, block porn sites on your internet, what ever, keep working on it. While in this refining mode and it will last your entire physical life, rest assurred that , if you are "Born Again", you are forgiven and saved to eternity! You are dead to sin at the cross but you are not dead to sinning!
God Bless!

satan or demons , put bad thoughts in all our minds!
We rebuke the demons and tell them to get going and take there dumb thoughts with them , in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST! they Must leave !

The power is in HIS name!

Salvation is eternal! God gives us a New beginning by giving us a New Spirit!

It is the very core and eternal part of our being! God is a Spirit and father of Perfect spirit beings!
It true we still live in earthly bodies , a short time!
these bodies want to sin and satan uses our natural desires to try and trick us!

The LORD tells us after He would did on the Cross! We would fast! He promised us three things if we would fast?

We would Break , Every yoke that bound us
He would heal our bodies1
He would come and talk with us!

I found three days water only ,prayer , reading the bible! Cause these scriptures to come true in our lives !
The 2nd day is very hard , satan will try everything to stop us!

the third day is great , our minds are So clear!

Isa 58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
Isa 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Isa 58:8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily:

Isa 58:9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

Mar 2:20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

WE walk and live Much more though our Spirit after fasting !

Our flesh minds are the battle fields
