Toxon - apparently as the simplest of fabric - bow

It would be nice if the lexicons gave a clear definition. Is it bow - to bend at the waist, a tied ribbon, or a weapon?
According to Thayers and A Manual Greek Lexicon of the New Testament it is used to translate qeset (7198) in the Septuagent which means the weapon. The commentaries also say it is a weapon, not a sash. I have been told a number of times by people who know Greek better than i that strong's is not a reliable resource.

I've spent a few hours this evening reading many of your posts and have found them to be terribly lacking in understanding and accuracy. If you choose to pass yourself off as a learned teacher then you must be 100% sure of what you say and if you are not, say that it is your expressed opinion lest others of weaker minds be lead astray. No, it does not. The word suffer is nowhere to be found in that verse and there is no word that indicates there will be suffering. Suffering is apparently what you've read into it and what you believe, however it doesn't say it.

Yes, 70 weeks is equal to 490 years in this scripture. Not because of your math skills, but because of the word used to describe the period (hebdomad of years) From Strong's H7620 "shabuwa". I'm not arguing with the math, only the assertion not fully explained. You just blatantly say it's 490 years and then go on about the 144,000 - not bothering to tell about the first seven weeks, the 62 subsequent weeks, nor the remaining one week. It's not just 490 years, there is much more to it than that - which you plainly didn't articulate or didn't understand. Further there is great significance in the intervals of each of these separate groups of years. You did a great disservice in glossing them over. It's good to remember who your audience is.

Think for a moment what you've written. The natural branch could be grafted back into . . . Wouldn't the natural branch always be the primary branch, the one to which all others are grafted into? So if the Jews are the natural branch, how can they be grafted back unto themselves? Not possible. The Jews are GOD's chosen people and are/will be because of an everlasting covenant made to Abraham and confirmed through Moses. They need not be grafted back in.
As to your assertion here and in other threads you've written, the 144,000 remnant are not evangelists nor do they preach to anyone. There isn't a verse in the whole of scripture that claims they are nor represents that they are anything other than a remnant redeemed to serve God and to sing a new song. Rev 14:3

Well, this is only partly true. If it's only partly true then it must also be partly wrong. I don't believe you can say with great authority that at the end of the 70 years there is an end to sin. Why? because there is this thing called the Millennial Kingdom - which just so happens to begin shortly after the 70th week ends. Is sin ended? I believe there is still death during the 1000 years meaning sin is not over and there's the pesky little blurb about Satan being released for a time at the end of the millennium. I don't suppose he'd be a reformed devil only planning sunshine and lollipops for all of earth, do you? Then there's the everlasting righteousness thing, my opinion is this too waits until the New Jerusalem and New Heaven & Earth - a place where everlasting and righteousness can be used absolutely.

There is no definitive proof that what you are saying is correct, is there? What you are really saying is what you think might be true so that you can pound the square facts neatly into the round hole. On the contrary, the scripture does NOT say the AC is a Roman. There are many studies making a case that he is, but there are just as many studies arguing he is not. You must believe something and I get that, choose a side and stick with it. BUT, can you absolutely say it is 100% true? No, you cannot. The truth is that this scripture (Dan 9:26-27) only says that Messiah will be cut off, but not for Himself. Then there's this punctuation mark called a colon which is used to introduce a description, an explanation, or a list. After the colon is a list of additional things relating to the time after Messiah is cut off. It says nothing about who the AC is, his origin, nor his nationality or ethnicity. Further, if you'll notice, it clearly says the people will destroy the city and sanctuary, not the PRINCE who comes. It also gives no time period for this prince to come. Surely it could have been the Romans who destroyed the Temple and Jerusalem in AD 70, but it's not clear - it could yet be a future event and still agree with the scripture. (Question: did the people of the city destroy it or did the soldiers of the Roman army?)
As to the question of the "sign a treaty," it actually says "confirm a covenant." While it may seem insignificant, the words do mean slightly different things. You would be wise to investigate the meanings and educate yourself in particular to this scripture. "Confirm a covenant" does not mean "sign a treaty." Why does this matter? Well if you're one of those out there who believe it can only be "sign a treaty," then that's the only thing that will do and you may miss the true confirmation. The true confirmation may come in the form of one of those back-door deals politicians are so fond of where they make agreements with one another and then tell us they've made a deal. (Much like Kerry is doing vis-a-vis Iran) Don't get so hung up on the fact it has to be a treaty when in all reality all it needs to be is one guy making an agreement with a bunch of other guys. It need not involve the whole world and get it's approval.
