Anger: not my best attribute

I have a weakness, I become extremely angry. I become angry at people the most, especially family, close friends and even our household pets.

I just need some scripture, I need to see some text in the Word of God that shows me how to repent from my lack of patience and quick judgment. I'm just a normal person, like everyone else.

I find I am calm, but inside of myself, I am so angry and frustrated. It makes me tired and I don't like it. I have asked God to remove my anger completely, since I know He can. But I think the Lord wants to teach me to deal with it myself.

I've read a few passages in the Bible concerning God and His Holy temperament, but that's about it.

I find that when I commit sin, be it something I'm struggling with for a while, or something I stopped doing, I get angry for doing it. My anger is much better than a couple of years ago.

I used to get outbursts of anger before I was truly saved and I'm scared within myself that it will happen again.

Thanks for the advice.
God bless
Much love

Hello dear friend - there has to be a deep rooted cause for your anger.I am not a professional person or a Bible scholar but common sense tells me that something happened to trigger an anger in you that will only prove to be destructive in the long run. You are very brave to admit there is a problem and I hope you will find time to sit alone someplace peaceful where you and the Lord can have a good old heart to heart talk.Pray in very simple terms, open your mind to God's influence because He certainly does not want you to carry the burden of anger through your life. Our time here is too precious to let anger dominate and of course all of us lose it from time to time.We are human and despite our best efforts something will set us off but it should only happen occasionally. Look within yourself for the answer.Trust in Almighty God , allow His peace to prevail over your anger and see the difference it will make. I will pray for you.

Thank you Andrew. I appreciate the prayer and the reply.

Like I mentioned, before I was saved I used to get outbursts of anger, I would should shout and scream and loose control, this happened at least once every 6 months, people usually call it "bottling up", or keeping the anger inside of you.

Since I became saved I have not had an outburst yet, but I am afraid that it may happen. The problem is I become angry at people, the way they speak to each other, disrespectful and rude etc.

I have a feeling of anger inside of me when I think of circumstances or people.

Time with God is something I truly have everyday and I am thankful for that. I spend a lot of time with the Lord and I have spoken to Him about my anger. I had the idea to ask for scripture to help me work at it.

If you have scripture to share regarding anger, or a fast temper, please share it brother.

God bless.

I am looking for some scriptures for you dear brother.
Eph.4.
25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26"In your anger do not sin"[d]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Have just found this for you brother teraside. Anger Scriptures

Will keep on searching for you.

God bless  :rainbow: :rose:

Psalm 37:7-9
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

Proverbs 15:18
A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension,
but a patient man calms a quarrel.

Eccleasiastes 7:9
The end of a matter is better than its beginning,
and patience is better than pride.
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
for anger resides in the lap of fools.

I do not have my few reference books with me (not home now). When I get home, I'll post more brother. Be at peace.

Find the " thing "

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.

Eccclesiastes 7:9

I experience similar emotions, and I realise that finding out the " the thing " that makes you break really helps. My " thing " is not having the last word . So my pray switch from " Lord make me slow to anger " to " Make me humble "

There is always a build up before an out break... ask God to reveal to you that " thing " and asking him to remove that characteristic from you and replace it with fruits of the spirit.

Avoiding environments ,situations and personalities also help when you find your " thing ".

Everyday put on the armor of God.....

God bless ,
