I don't usually consider myself an angry person, but here lately... well I thought maybe scripture would help.
Well, the Bible says it's OK to be a little angry sometimes, for a short while. (Eph 4:26) but it says to be careful not to hold on to it.
But it also says ...
anger is a fruit of the flesh (Gal 5:20) which wars against the Spirit.
it says all anger should be put away from us. (Eph 4:31; Col 3:8)
The Bible says the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God (James 1:20)
Heb 12:15 says that the root of bitterness can grow up inside us and defile us (yes, even believers).
Acts 8:23 says we can be in bondage to bitterness. (I assume much like being in bondage to an addiction).
James 3:5-11 give some dire warnings about what we say when we are angry.
Matt 5:22 is also similar to James.
I suppose anger is like any other sin, it can be forgiven, but it seems to me that we sometimes get so angry that we don't care (at least right at that moment) if we are forgiven.
So let us pray for peace and love with one another. Let us strive to lift each other up. Lord forgive me for my anger.
