I don't usually consider myself an angry person, but here lately... well I thought maybe scripture would help.

Well, the Bible says it's OK to be a little angry sometimes, for a short while. (Eph 4:26) but it says to be careful not to hold on to it.
But it also says ...
anger is a fruit of the flesh (Gal 5:20) which wars against the Spirit.
it says all anger should be put away from us. (Eph 4:31; Col 3:8)
The Bible says the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God (James 1:20)

Heb 12:15 says that the root of bitterness can grow up inside us and defile us (yes, even believers).
Acts 8:23 says we can be in bondage to bitterness. (I assume much like being in bondage to an addiction).

James 3:5-11 give some dire warnings about what we say when we are angry.
Matt 5:22 is also similar to James.

I suppose anger is like any other sin, it can be forgiven, but it seems to me that we sometimes get so angry that we don't care (at least right at that moment) if we are forgiven.
So let us pray for peace and love with one another. Let us strive to lift each other up. Lord forgive me for my anger.

What a good thread B A C

The Lord is good for giving us all these heeds and warnings. I used to truly sruggle with hate and anger. 1) Hate towards myself and 2) anger towards others and myself. Jesus came and put all the broken pieces back together and gave me love unconditional like I have never experienced ever in my life before and untill today, it just keep on comming. Through my new family He gave me. Its true that He really does replace everything satan steals from you in tripple and His presence of unfathomable, undiscribable love overwhelms my heart time to time :) after 2 years, its still leaves me crying... Crying coz I was broken and battered, no one wanted me, but Jesus stood up and called my name, He wanted me, I am good enough for Him :) now what more could we ever ask for.

Blessings

Thank you for this post, I definitely understand the heart behind it, one thing I would caution you on is defining anger as sin (“I suppose anger is like any other sin, it can be forgiven”) in Ephesians 4:26 it shows that one can be angry and not enter into sin. There are actually biblical accounts when Jesus himself was angry Matthew 21:12-13, but we know that Jesus is without sin.

But again I understand your point and appreciate it.

Grace and Peace

Jesus got angry, but not because of anything that was done to him. He did not rebuke anyone while being scourged or ridiculed. His anger was born out of a zeal for the principles of God. When he saw those principles being trampled under foot by the vipers in the den, then he spoke out about it. Even weaving a whip (which took some time) to drive out those vipers.

Joh 2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
Joh 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

Then there is the time where He told Peter to get behind him right after He had given Peter a great promise.

Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mat 16:20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
Mat 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Mat 16:22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Mat 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

So, this means we have to be sure why we are angry. Praying that the Lord will remove any anger than is the result of ego or pride being trampled on rather than the anger born out of zeal that the principles of God are being trampled on.
Which also means we need to leave room for the Lord to repay, for His wrath. If anger is taken to the Lord, then He will lead in surprising ways. Sometimes He says to rebuke, or clean out the house. Other times He will lead to
do good to the person who is causing the anger in order for them to come into repentance that leads to salvation.
