Exodus 16:4; Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

That was in about 1440 BC in the weeks after the Israelites had left Eqyptian captivity where the land fertilised by the Nile grew abundant crops. Once in the wilderness they quickly began to starve and lust for the same fruit and vegetables they'd enjoyed as slaves. Moses asked \GOD what was to be done and GOD said He would provide food. Five mornings each week a heavy fall of manna fell and on the sixth the fall was doubled. Manna is described as sweet but able to be baked. It must have been marvellously nutritious to keep the millions of Israelites alive on their long trek around the wilderness until the survivors entered the promised land.

How apt it was then in 1945 when many Anglo-Saxon Israelites serving in the Royal Air Force had the joy of flying Operation Manna across to Holland to cascade millions of packs of basic food - dried eggs, tinned meat - down to thousands of Dutch people who had been deliberately starved by Hitler!

Manna for the Israelites from GOD : Manna from GOD's British Israelites for the Israelites of Holland ?
