Does taking lexapro for anxiety make me less Christian. I was on 5mgs and stopped taking them withdraws are horrible. My mind told me you can't be a Christian and take meds anyone have the same thinking???

Greetings,

I AM NOT A PHYSICIAN so please discuss anything you read or hear about Lezapro with a physician/doctor before following any advice, from anyone.

From the little I know, Lexapro can and often does have side effects which may over-ride some things you would prefer to have some control over. Likewise, you are not the only person to experience horrible withdrawal symptoms as it appears to be quite common and very unpleasant.
Do you have any Christian Bothers and/or Sisters who can support you?

I shall pray for you, OAKLINE.
PLEASE keep in touch with us here as you are able to.

Bless you ....><>

Those who are bipolar, or other mental illness's almost always come to a place where they stop taking their meds thinking they are OK now. These kinds of medication must be reduced over time, and not just stop altogether. The bible says every thing we do must be done in the name of Jesus Christ even when it comes to taking medicine. Thank God for medical science, or a lot of people would die way before there time. If I was you I would not stop until your doctor says to. You can be a Christian and take medicine, there is no condemnation for doing so. Do not let the devil tell you, you can not be a believers and take medicine. That is lie.

Greetings @OAKLINE

There is nothing wrong with you as a Christian taking lepraxo to treat your symptoms of anxiety, it does not make you any less of a Christian.

There should not be such a stigma around this medication.
Many Christians are judgemental which is wrong.

It is important to take them as prescribed and not suddenly stop taking them.
This is the same for a lot of medicines and not only psychiatric ones.

I prayerfully and carefully agreed to my 15 year old daughter commencing an antidepressant (a similar ssri to lepraxo). I am so thankful to the Lord that her extreme anxiety symptoms, and suicidal thoughts have reduced considerably.

As a healthcare professional myself......I see many people who benefit from antidepressant medication. I also know Christians who would judge being on an antidepressant as wrong.....whilst they are popping opiate based painkillers daily which are much more addictive and dangerous.

Praying for you Oakline.

Praying as well for your guidance and healing. In the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

With the love of Christ Jesus.

If you make your statement in reverse it sounds like something the devil said to Jesus. So, no, definitely not. You are more Christian for taking them.

Matt 4:5 Don't take your meds and let God send His angels to catch you. It is written, do not tempt God.

well you're looking for the opinion of those who call themselves Christian, so in their own opinion they see themselves as what a Christian is. so if it makes you less then like them then what do you think they will say?

now if you ask the Lord what you should do, and see to it you get the answer and do that, then that is what a follower of Jesus would do.
