Anti-depressants/Anxiety Medicine

What do Christians think about such Anxiety medicines such as Lexapro, Prozac, Effexor.. ect.

And some ADD medications such as Starterra.

I have alot of Anxiety.. Social Anxiety.. OCD. ADD. I haven't been taking medicine because I don't want to "be on drugs" (because I used to use street drugs when I was growing up). I also believe that the lord will come and remove these defects over time as I continue to grow as a christian. But sometimes I feel like I might need to be on them because the power of these defects are so overwhelming. Sometimes I began to feel that I'm demonly possessed and that god doesn't love me otherthise he wouldn't have made me like this. I was born with all these anxieties.. I've had them ever since I was a child.

Dear Friend, This is a difficult area for the secular man. You know just what you are talking about.......I may not.

I would advise professional advice. In England this would mean a visit to the Doctor.
I would not advise taking any medication without Professional advice, and a sure knowledge of what you were imbibing.

Please do not entertain the thought that you are demon possessed. You are no more demon possessed than the man in the moon. Cast all such thought and idea aside. I can tell you the Jesus loves you with as much love as He affords to me.

There is nothing wrong with medications when properly applies and God Himself placed these here for man to use.
As far as demonic activity it is always a strong possibilty. Jesus cast out more demons than anyone else in the Bible. Generally in most cases I find it is it is oppression and not possesion. Either way God gives us power, authority and a plan:
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

I agree with Stephen. Doctor-prescribed medications are always appropriate for believers. I also agree with what he said about the possibility of you being demon possessed. In The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis wrote something to the effect that there are two things the demons like: 1) people not believing in them, and 2) people obsessing over them.

I have two suggestions. Like Stephen, I strongly urge you to seek professional medical help. I also strongly urge you to spend a significant amount of time each day studying the Gospels. I believe significant healing awaits you in studying and believing the Words and Works of Jesus.
