Our pastor gave a sermon a couple of weeks ago. He referenced first Corinthians 6:19-20. It is very rare that a pastor will ever mention the sin of gluttony. In that sermon, he mentioned that when DL Moody met Charles Spurgeon, the prince of preachers, he was smoking one of his cigars. Moody asked Charles Spurgeon, how he, a man of God, could be smoking a cigar. Charles Spurgeon replied, when you put down your fork, I’ll put down my cigar. I was very encouraged to hear our Pastor actually mention that gluttony is sinful because our bodies are temples to be used to glorify God. In this country, where the majority of people have enough to eat, and where portions in restaurants are very large, we brothers and sisters in Christ need to remember that we are not glorifying the Lord by over, eating, and by not exercising. I felt very convicted because I used to exercise much more than I do now.
