Good question!
We are called to make disciples by teaching them to obey the commands of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20), but we are not supposed to have our own disciples in the sense of having and teaching others our own teachings or interpretations.
Hope this helps.
So rightly quoted; Matthew 28: 18-20. I think Jesus was talking to "His" disciples who he taught in that part of scripture. But, I do not know who taught these "disciples" we got today! They are truly disciples alright, blowing in every direction! Cannot agree on nothing, every body got their own "Intrepretations" they cherry pick, what they don't like, what the Bible is saying, and skip over it, or place a "Hot branding iron" over the sentence, or rewrite "The Book"! Yes They are making "disciples" alright!
Jesus said:
(Matthew 23)ASV.
"For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is become so, ye make him two fold more a son of hell than yourselves"
In this day and age, the world is flooded with so many disciple makers, that is why the Bible describe it as the "Great Falling Away"! And this is the "picture of that we get the "Biblical Motif" from:
(Isaiah 3: )ASV. early copyright before 1977.
"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they that lead thee cause thee to error, and destroy the way of thy paths, Jehovah satandeth up to contend, and standeth to judge the peoples.
Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: it is you that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses!
What mean you that you crush my people, and grind the face of the poor? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.
More over Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking making mincing as they go, and making a tinking with their feets. therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts." [This is The "Tetragrammaton" speaking in these verses, This is The Book of Isaiah"] you can correct Him if you want to, disciple. But I am going to move over a little bit, while you take your argument to HIM. while you tell HIM what He means. Now I am just the Mailman. and as far as I am concern, i don't have nothing against nobody! This world do not belong to me, neither do I have subjects, and I sure am not a ruler. But I am commanded to observed by my Master.
So I am in agreement with you "whitehorse" in essence. and not in dis-agreement whatsoever.
and you all have a nice day.
