I am new here, but I am not new to being a Christian who seeks to study the Bible. I have read some of the threads, and I have appreciated several of the initial postings. However, in reading the comments they engender, it leads me to ask a question. "Are not most of the responses in these threads no more than a pooling of ignorance?"

I have found that true Biblical understanding is rare. So rare that it may take intense searching, often for many years just to find a single piece of it. I have engaged in such searches and learned such things. Only, from what I now understand, I find that it is very rare to come across a sound teacher of the Bible. Yet, on this site, and those like it, many assume to be teachers. Is this not just a pooling of ignorance and a furthering of false teaching?

How is anyone on a site such as this supposed to discern between the false teachers and the true. I am not being sarcastic, these questions are asked genuinely.

@BoldlyGo

Perhaps you should be bold enough to give some examples?

Thank you

These sites are a microcosm of the world. A smattering of truth (true believers) mixed with half-truths and lies (poorly taught believers and posers).

We can only discern what is true when we ask Holy Spirit to go before us and show us, so that we will know instantly that something is true or false when we read it. It's not about a feeling.

Ok Grace, thank you, I will. There was a post from a man in the process of getting a divorce. He asked how much time he should wait before dating again... all of the responses to his question voided the words of Jesus on this matter. Not one person (other than I) spoke the words of Jesus to this matter. Every single post, each no doubt meant to be helpful, ignored that there is no such thing as divorce in the New Covenant. Remarriage, or sleeping with anyone other than his true wife, is adultery, and no adulterer will inherit eternal life.

Again, regarding capitol punishment, the post requesting discussion and the discussion that followed had no one who represented the words of Jesus on this subject. There were yes answers, no answers and I don't know answers... which is fine. But the final outcome has yet reveal the wholeness on which Christ taught on this subject. There were some decent posts, yes. But no one spoke to the heart of the matter as Jesus did.

Regarding go to war for your country, this too has only collected threads that speak in collective ignorance. Does no one here represent the words of Jesus?

So, you just joined a few hours ago and you write off "most" of the responses as a pooling of ignorance. It is you who is clearly ignorant. There are nearly 300,000 posts and nearly 50,000 discussions. Somehow you managed to figure "most" are blind leading the blind.

Your account is closed. I've had very few newcomers to the site the past 11 years make stupid comments like this. It's an insult, and pure ignorance.

Think about what the man wrote for a moment. He was not the one seeking the divorce. It is wife who has committed adultery. Which is one reason allowed by Jesus for getting a divorce. But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Matthew 5:32 KJV

So this man has just cause for getting a divorce. Oddly as I stated before he is not the initiator of it! You should have been giving him kudos for this.

You could have acknowledged his right in this and then addressed the other issue about getting married as a separate one.

Instead of showing any form of compassion, you beat him over the head with scripture. Legalist maybe?

Jesus even had compassion for the one who was brought before Him by others to see if He would stone her according to the law of Moses. She knew, that He knew, that she had sinned. So what did our Lord say?

When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:10-11 KJV

Are you the accuser brother? Truth is awesome brother, but if the other attributes that Jesus showed to "sinners" is missing you will have gained nothing and will have chased away the very ones you seek to help.

I'm not saying that points you have brought up have no validity, but if you lack the love to communicate instruction in a fashion that allows for learning. I would suggest you think twice about replying to one who is seeking assistance.

Only in Love Brother.

Normally I take awhile before posting and review it thoroughly. My sincere desire is to communicate whatever I right with love. Just sometimes.............I apologize ahead of time if something is out of place.

It's your opinion that there is no such thing as divorce in the New Covenant. I've got news for you, but Jesus tells us that divorce is acceptable where there is adultery. Above that, where divorce has taken place and lives have been broken, our God is in the business of restoration. People make messes of their lives and others' lives due to selfishness and sin, but through this amazing thing called "godly sorrow" which leads a person to repentance, is what brings forgiveness and a new starting place with the Lord. Marriage is totally part of that amazing restoration to those who love God and desire to serve Him with their spiritual gifts!

Does no one here represent the words of Jesus?

For shame. I and many others do.

Easy, know your Bible and Christ in you is supposed to give you discernment! No offense but I am a bit confused, first you are very descriptive about their being false teachers here at T.J., then you ask how to recognize them:confused:, or am I missing something here?

Jesus is love, where one wants a divorce seeking someone else He says to even look at another is lust so the one whom didnt want divorce is not sinning but sinned upon. You speak your own judgement not Jesus compassion on the wronged. Pride is in you.

Not to mention God calls us to live at peace with each other as much as we possibly casn which means giving more then the aversage person would. I know of a God fearing and loving couple who ended up allowing some sin into their marriage andf the enemy got in there and began to steal , kill and destroy. One of them filed for divorce and the other did not. Over time God worked much but in the end the one just would not allow their heart to be softened by the Lord. They had found greener pastors so they thought.

I said all that to say this..........God told the party who was walking in His ways to keep peace and he would take care of them.
Long story short.........divorce went through and God worked peace through out the entire deal. Now years down the road God brought thee most perfect spouse for the one who walk in His ways and they are so blessed and serving God and seeing fruit produced in their lives and ministry. Some times........it is not just all black and white when dealing with people.

God Bless...OBTW Howdy ; )

This routine of even supposedly Christian people to seek their own solution to their problems before considering going to the Master is not just prevalent among Christian members but also throughout much of our supposedly Christian society. But, it is so much easier to criticize than it is to correct, isn't it? When it comes to this, who is not guilty? Let us remember these OT words which are still true today:

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." Jerem 10:23

Jesus came and with him brought abundant Life, but we who still walk so much of the time in a darkness compared to his Light, fail too often to take hold of what he has for us. We too often quench the Holy Spirit, which would lead us and guide us into more of the Truth, which is Jesus.
I wish I could honestly say that I never walk in darkness rather than Light. I wish that I could honestly say that I never quenched the Holy Spirit of God. But if I did I would be further proving these words penned by Paul with regard to the lies of men:

"God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged." Rom 3:4
