Ed Gungor sees an epidemic of ailing Christians in the evangelical church. That's why this pastor from Oklahoma has written the book "Religiously Transmitted Diseases: Finding a Cure When Faith Doesn't Feel Right>
Q: We don't normally think of threats to our faith as diseases. Why address
the subject this way?
A: It grew out of trying to be a follower of Jesus and making sure that relationship always has life. The truth is, you have to fight to keep your faith alive, and you have to fight to keep it from dying inside you. You can get sick if you let some of these deases enter your soul without trying to fight them. A lot of people find it easier to let their faith die and not ask themselves the hard questions.
Q: You say too many Christians are "trying to hold onto the truth while trying to gain acceptance." How do we fight that?
A: The most important thing is knowing how to protect our faith; knowing we are all fallen, we are sinners, and Jesus is the Savior of the world and the only way to salvation. Sometimes, we get so grieved by the weirdness of the other belief systems of the world that we don't focus on the fact they are lost and need Jesus. We have to make sure they know what the truth really is.
Are you suffering from a "religiously transmitted disease?" Go online to /// religiously transmitted diseases - LAUNCH /// and use the survey tools on the site to get a spiritual diagnosis of where you are in your faith.

*Notes from Dreamer--I wouldn't take this test too awfully seriously---it's not straight from God's Word. However, it's fun to take and causes you to re-think how you think!
Supposedly, from taking this quiz, I personally have three religiously transmitted diseases!
Our real measure of faith, I believe, and our real supply for Holy Spirit knowledge, remains....the infallible Word of God.
*Hebrews 4:12, 13 "For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
