I have many hobbies, most revolve around people. Either people that i love who are close to me or people who i am getting to know who are often not Christians who i especially want to spend more time with.
One of the best things i love to do is be still.
This is such a crazy world in which we live, everything seems to go so fast and it is very difficult to pay adequate attention to 'the moment' in which we live, and the people who we are with in that moment.
Nothing is better (and addictive - in a good way) than to lie down or sit in a chair, go to the top of a hill or by a stream or the sea and be still.
You have to stay in that place long enough to get past the thumb-twiddling bit. Past the tears and the fear of rejection (feeling God won't be there for me)....sit for long enough until your own thoughts stop racing about all the things you could be doing.....persevere through the devils panicked attempts at accusation, (and he'll try). Stay there until you hear the still small unmistakable voice that fills and satisfies the very depths of your soul. The voice of one who silences your accuser, the voice of one who knows the worst thing about you and forgives you, the voice of the one who likes you as well as loves you...the voice of your very best friend.......Jesus
Now that's my best ever hobby!
