Luk 14:7 And He began speaking a parable to the invited guests when He noticed how they had been picking out the places of honor at the table, saying to them,
Luk 14:8 "When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished than you may have been invited by him,
Luk 14:9 and he who invited you both will come and say to you, 'Give your place to this man,' and then in disgrace you proceed to occupy the last place.
Lu 14:10 "But when you are invited, go and recline at the last place, so that when the one who has invited you comes, he may say to you, 'Friend, move up higher'; then you will have honor in the sight of all who are at the table with you.
Luk 14:11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Rom 12:16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.
Jas 4:6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."
Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
1Pet 5:5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
1Pet 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
Driving in traffic this morning, someone cut me off. I had it in my mind to teach him a lesson, but for some reason I didn't. I just let him and a few others go ahead of me. I started wondering why I always had to be first. Again at the grocery store, a lady with a cart started walking a little faster as we got nearer to the check out registers. I know we are all in a hurry and have a million things to do, but what makes me and what I need to do anymore important than you and what you need to do?
It seems now, more thanever, it's all about being a rockstar, or a diva, or in the spotlight. It's all about me, bigger televisions, newer cell phones, cooler cars... while there is nothing wrong with these things, I think when I our attitude become we have to be bigger, badder, louder, prouder, blingier, than everyone else around us, maybe we need to stop and take a look at ourselves.
Most of the time when I post messages on here, the person I'm really talking to, is myself.
Joh 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease.
How can really show love to others? Here is an idea.
Mat 20:26 "It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant,
Mat 23:11 "But the greatest among you shall be your servant.
Mar 9:35 Sitting down, He called the twelve and *said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all."
Mar 10:43 "But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant;
Luk 22:26 "But it is not this way with you, but the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like the servant.
Maybe instead of exalting ourselves, sometimes we should try humbling ourselves.
