I have noticed that like most emotions, being passionate about things you feel important can be either good or bad. To not be passionate at all about something is to be indifferent to it. Now to those that confuse being passionate about something to sexual passion, that doesnt apply in "this" discussion. Although even that kind of passion can be good or bad as well. To be not passionate about important matters is again to be indifferent to it, neither hot nor cold on the subject.... and we all know that if we are indifferent to our walk with Christ, He will according to scripture, spew us out of His mouth, not to be a part of the kingdom of heaven.
Now there are a lot of passionate people here concerning our paths we should walk in our walk with Christ. And not everyone's passion is the same in that walk. Thats why moderators in this forum is a good thing, because we can be a bit over dramatic on some things and not dramatic (indifferent) in other things.
So to those who dismiss other peoples views on a subject matter as not worth the brain cells to speculate on, thats indifference and not good. To those who want to bring bad language of foul accusations to others who are passionate about something is the wrong kind of passion. The passion itself is not wrong, but learning to control our passions and not let them control us is good. Its good to "be" passionate about any moral issue, but bad to let the wolf inside us be in charge of the language we use in sharing how our faith tells us that our passion should be applied to any moral situation. Although I could take the time to look up all scripture that supports this, I will leave that to others that to others who need to see scripture to have any passion on the subject. I simply can see the truth when I read or hear it. Its a moral discernment. I first used that when I was a teenager and read scripture that convicted me. The Holy Spirit convicted me of the truth of what I was reading as the truth. Most of you have done this in your early walk to the Kingdom of God. But sadly for most, it stayed there. Only allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you through scripture. And although the Holy Spirit does indeed speak to us through scripture, thats not the kind of faith God wants for us. He wants us to know the truth on any subject even if its not "specifically" addressed in accepted scripture. Abraham was a friend to God, and so was Adam and Enoch, and even King David. None of them were known to be bookworms in what God had said to ppl before hand. They saw situations as either good or bad and let the Holy Spirit guide thier response (not always, but most of the time). They were all passionate people, as am I. This is a sermon that some would despise because there isnt a single verse from scripture in it. But for those of you who feel that way, feel free to include any scripture that you feel supports this or debunks this. I am a friend of God and I am passionate about my faith, and I hope you will be as well.
