I have noticed that like most emotions, being passionate about things you feel important can be either good or bad. To not be passionate at all about something is to be indifferent to it. Now to those that confuse being passionate about something to sexual passion, that doesnt apply in "this" discussion. Although even that kind of passion can be good or bad as well. To be not passionate about important matters is again to be indifferent to it, neither hot nor cold on the subject.... and we all know that if we are indifferent to our walk with Christ, He will according to scripture, spew us out of His mouth, not to be a part of the kingdom of heaven.

Now there are a lot of passionate people here concerning our paths we should walk in our walk with Christ. And not everyone's passion is the same in that walk. Thats why moderators in this forum is a good thing, because we can be a bit over dramatic on some things and not dramatic (indifferent) in other things.

So to those who dismiss other peoples views on a subject matter as not worth the brain cells to speculate on, thats indifference and not good. To those who want to bring bad language of foul accusations to others who are passionate about something is the wrong kind of passion. The passion itself is not wrong, but learning to control our passions and not let them control us is good. Its good to "be" passionate about any moral issue, but bad to let the wolf inside us be in charge of the language we use in sharing how our faith tells us that our passion should be applied to any moral situation. Although I could take the time to look up all scripture that supports this, I will leave that to others that to others who need to see scripture to have any passion on the subject. I simply can see the truth when I read or hear it. Its a moral discernment. I first used that when I was a teenager and read scripture that convicted me. The Holy Spirit convicted me of the truth of what I was reading as the truth. Most of you have done this in your early walk to the Kingdom of God. But sadly for most, it stayed there. Only allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you through scripture. And although the Holy Spirit does indeed speak to us through scripture, thats not the kind of faith God wants for us. He wants us to know the truth on any subject even if its not "specifically" addressed in accepted scripture. Abraham was a friend to God, and so was Adam and Enoch, and even King David. None of them were known to be bookworms in what God had said to ppl before hand. They saw situations as either good or bad and let the Holy Spirit guide thier response (not always, but most of the time). They were all passionate people, as am I. This is a sermon that some would despise because there isnt a single verse from scripture in it. But for those of you who feel that way, feel free to include any scripture that you feel supports this or debunks this. I am a friend of God and I am passionate about my faith, and I hope you will be as well.

I agree with this and appreciate being reminded my passions can be used in the wrong direction.

I would say that greater than 90% of the Christians I know personally will not participate on any Christian talk forum.

With so many different interpretations on any given Scripture all gathered together, there will be tensions which must be controlled.

I think we should all be reminded from time to time to use that control if we want to participate on these forums.

I was wondering if some ppl would point out that david meditated on scripture as to debunk my word of him. Only later in life when his passions controlling him led him down a life of regret concerning his family and his sexual passion did he start reading scripture more so. As a shepard, he didnt do much, as a young warrior, same, as a musician, the same. And that passion earlier in life was delighted in by God and made him a man after God's own heart. But like all of us, who fall short, he began letting his passions get in the way of listening to the Holy Spirit. But thank God that he repented and began to discipline himself concerning his passions. His passions werent inherently wrong, but when they started to control his actions, and it led to sin that he regretted to the day he died.

This is one of the best short summaries of David I have ever read. Well done!

I love my Lord and savior and know you do as well Brad ! for me scripture is a living thing, if something is not directly spoken about in scripture I can almost say with 100% certainty that it is indirectly spoken of, and the HOly spirit points it out to me all the time. I will give an example, some may think I am crazy, but it is given to me.

Hebrews go into battle, God promises victory, only if Mosses holds up in hands, the second he lets his hands down the Jews start loosing the battle. this is from scripture,,,,,,,,,, I indirectly see this as me as a believer, I am to rely on God to fight my battles and know that victory is his,, however I do have responsibility to hold my hands up, I have to engage.... when God is for us when we obey nothing can stop us... but we must rely on God, realize it is he who knows what is best for us. And even if things do not go the way I think they should go, I know God is in control and it is best for me !!

When we read the OT I see the Egypt as sin, and sin enslaves us,,,,,,,,, this is indirect from scripture,,,,,,,,,,,,
When I see all Israel not making it to the promise land except may be two people I think it was, I see the vast majority of so called Christians not making it to heaven and few will ....indirect from scripture

To me the HOly spirit and scripture are one with God, the Bible backs this statement up,,,, I speak with God in my thoughts most of the entire day, along with praising him and being thankful.

One thing I am learning is we are all at different places in our walk and I have to be very respectful of that, and arguing between believers is wrong, speak with grace and love is what I try to focus, and fail plenty
