Hello @brighthouse98,

The Lord Jesus uses the word BEWARE on several occasions, Paul and Peter too, and I believe we need to take note of them. For though the Lord spoke to His disciples particularly, especially in Matthew 10:17, the doctrine of the Pharisees and the Sadducees is still in evidence today, and there are false prophets on the forums of the internet and sounding forth their poison on the media and in pulpits throughout the world, so that we need to cling to the word of God, and keep our minds stayed on Christ Jesus our risen Lord during these evil days.

'Beware of false prophets,
which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.'
(Mat.7:15 )

'But beware of men:
for they will deliver you up to the councils,
and they will scourge you in their synagogues;'
(Mat.10:17)

Then Jesus said unto them,
Take heed and beware
of the leaven of the Pharisees
and of the Sadducees.'

(Mat,16:6)

' How is it that ye do not understand
that I spake it not to you concerning bread,
that ye should beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
Then understood they
how that He bade them not beware of the leaven of bread,
but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.'
(Mat.16:11-12)

'And He charged them, saying,
Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees,
and of the leaven of Herod.'
(Mar. 8:15)

'And He said unto them in His doctrine,
Beware of the scribes,
which love to go in long clothing,
and love salutations in the marketplaces,'
(Mar. 12:38)

'In the mean time, when there were gathered together
an innumerable multitude of people,
insomuch that they trode one upon another,
he began to say unto His disciples first of all,
Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.'
(Luk,12:1)

'And He said unto them,
Take heed, and beware of covetousness:
for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things
which he possesseth.'

(Luk.12:15 )

'Beware of the scribes,
which desire to walk in long robes,
and love greetings in the markets,
and the highest seats in the synagogues,
and the chief rooms at feasts;
(Luk.20:46)

'Beware lest any man spoil you
through philosophy and vain deceit,
after the tradition of men,
after the rudiments of the world,
and not after Christ.'
(Col.2:8)
'Ye therefore, beloved,
seeing ye know these things before,
beware lest ye also,
being led away with the error of the wicked,
fall from your own stedfastness.'
(2Pet.3:17)

The leaven of the Pharisees is about the Talmud, the oral law, not the Torah, The law, written by the finger of God and given to Moses is the 10 commandments. The Talmud/oral law, is opinion based on the 613 laws delivered to Moses by angels to give to the Israelites because they somehow couldn't figure out how to keep the 10 commandments. The old and new testaments are the witnesses of the Word. 1 Timothy 3:16–17, "All Scripture is God-breathed and. is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training. in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be. thoroughly equipped for every good work." The other end of the spectrum is the false teaching of many of today's corporate churches that people have license to do anything they wish, one of those "hard to understand" writings that Paul was talking about. The Almighty runs a tight ship as evidenced by Mt 7:13 Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. Follow The Way and you'll be aimed at the narrow gate.

'Beware of false prophets,
which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.'
(Mat.7:15 )

'And many false prophets shall rise,
and shall deceive many.'
(Mat.24:11 )

'For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets,
and shall shew great signs and wonders;
insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.'
(Mat.24:24)

'For false Christs and false prophets shall rise,
and shall shew signs and wonders,
to seduce, if it were possible,
even the elect.'
(Mar.13:22)

'Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!
for so did their fathers to the false prophets.'
(Luk. 6:26)

'But there were false prophets also among the people,
even as there shall be false teachers among you,
who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that bought them,

and bring upon themselves swift destruction.'
(2 Pet. 2:1)

'Beloved, believe not every spirit,
but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone out into the world.'
(1 John 4:1)

--------------------------------

* The false prophet will look like one of the flock, a sheep like all the rest, but will lead many to destruction. A flock will follow blindly a lead sheep, and have been known to fall to their deaths as a flock, because the lead sheep has led them over a cliff edge. Deceived and seduced by the impression that the lead sheep, like themselves is seeking fresh pasture.

* These people are very often of good reputation among men, sometimes performing great signs and wonders, but insidiously bringing in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord, but in such a way that is so close to the true that deception is possible, even of the believer. So we must try their words and actions in the light of what the Scriptures say: and not be sheep, blindly following, but discerning and questioning, in the light of God's word.

Thank you

'But beware of men:
for they will deliver you up to the councils,
and they will scourge you in their synagogues;'
(Mat.10:17)

This was spoken to the twelve, chosen by the Lord Jesus, and empowered against unclean spirits to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease (Mat 10:1). They were being sent exclusively to, 'the lost sheep of the house of Israel', preaching as they went, 'The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand'. Freely giving, as they themselves had freely received, healing all sickness and disease as required.

So the instruction of Matthew 10:17 was for the disciples particularly, and should be recognised as such, and not applied generally. They had every reason to beware of men, for the Lord knew that they would be hated for His very name's sake.

Thank you

Then Jesus said unto them,
Take heed and beware
of the leaven of the Pharisees
and of the Sadducees.'

(Mat,16:6)

' How is it that ye do not understand
that I spake it not to you concerning bread,
that ye should beware of the leaven
of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
Then understood they
how that He bade them not beware of the leaven of bread,
but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.'
(Mat.16:11-12)

'And He charged them, saying,
Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees,
and of the leaven of Herod.'
(Mar. 8:15)

'In the mean time, when there were gathered together
an innumerable multitude of people,
insomuch that they trode one upon another,
he began to say unto His disciples first of all,
Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.'
(Luk,12:1)

* The doctrine (leaven) of the Pharisees (which is hypocrisy) and of the Sadducees, and of Herod. Each of these had power (religious and political) and authority, but what was the leaven (i.e., doctrine) of each, for this was what the word beware was associated with?

* The action of leaven (yeast) is to cause substances to expand and fill. In Scripture it is always spoken of in a bad sense.

* The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection of the dead, whereas the Pharisees believed that the dead could communicate with the living: both of these beliefs have had a profound effect upon many. With spiritism being on the increase in society for example, and permeating the media in all it's forms of communication, be it in literature or in film.

* I personally believe that the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, which the Lord illustrated in the story of the rich man and Lazarus, has acted like leaven in Christendom, creating a doctrine which has expanded to become one of eternal conscious punishment for the lost, and has caused undue suffering for many, but is groundless and unscriptural, and well deserves the word BEWARE to be attached to it. For believers do need to BEWARE of this doctrine of the Pharisees, which has penetrated so deeply into Christian culture, and goes against the testimony of Scripture regarding the state of the dead.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Is not hypocrisy pretending to be someone Holy and pure but not actually being one?
The Pharisees taught one way and lived another.

2 Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privately shall bring in damnable heresies
even denying THE LORD THAT BOUGHT THEM, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Who did He buy? And who is he that denies the Lord that bought him, other than the one that says I am because I accepted, not because you purchased me?

Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise and show signs and wonders, to seduce, IF IT WERE POSSIBLE, the very elect.

Your words are very true, so close, but yet so deceptive.
