I have been reading 2Pet 3 this week. I can't help but feel those verses apply to these times., alot of this goes along with 2Timothy also.

2 Pet 3:3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,
2 Pet 3:4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation."
2 Pet 3:5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water,

2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
2 Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

This generation does not appear to know or fear God at all. They scoff at the fact he might even exist.

Jud 1:16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.
Jud 1:17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Jud 1:18 that they were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts."
Jud 1:19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.

1 Tim 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
1 Tim 4:2 by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,

2 Tim 3:1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 Tim 3:2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
2 Tim 3:3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,
2 Tim 3:4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
2 Tim 3:5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
2 Tim 3:6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,
2 Tim 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

If this isn't the world today, I don't know what is.

Prov 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Yes, all of these verses apply to how the world acts now, among many many more. There are so many ancient Biblical prophecies coming to pass in our generation that it is not hard to imagine the Rapture being right around the corner. Christians need to realize this and be prepared!

Joel,
I appreciate you editing your opening post to remove the web addy. Thank you.

Matthew 24:14
"And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

I happen to know that the Gospel has even reached into North Korea. When Mark Hall and Casting Crowns won a Grammy Award a few years ago, they were invited by the North Korean government to come there and do a concert. Mark Hall and the band learned how to sing their songs in Korean so as to assure that the message was not mistranslated. They were well received.

With the technology of satellites and the internet etc, The Gospel is available around the globe.

It is now a matter of waiting for God's perfect timing and for us to guard our hearts so that they do not grow cold.

Threads like this one are an encouragement to remember that God keeps His promises. We can see the signs of the times and know that His appearing is near, even at the door.

You're welcome, Strypes. I have been feeling a leading from the Holy Spirit to preach about Jesus' imminent Return. We are closer than ever before to seeing the Second Coming and there are still so many who will not let go of their sinful ways, even in the Church.

Matthew 16:1-4 NKJV

1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; 3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

Matthew 24:3-26 NKJV

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand. “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.

"Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world to test those who dwell on the earth."
Revelation 3:10

This verse clearly states that the Church will be exempt from the Tribulation.
And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
I Thessalonians 1:6-10

This one clearly states that we will escape the wrath to come as well (aka The Tribulation)

"For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage each other with these words."
I Thessalonians 4:16-18

This verse says we will meet Him in the air, however, when He comes to judge the nations at the end of the Great Tribulation and before the Millennial Kingdom it says that He sets comes WITH the saints (the Church) and SETS FOOT on the Mount of Olives.

3Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
4And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.
Zachariah 14: 3 & 4

So how can we be with Him and not be with Him?

"For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him."
I Thessalonians 5:4,9-10

Once again we escape the wrath to come.

And no, this does not mean that we go through the Tribulation but not the Great Tribulation. That makes no sense. We WILL escape God's Wrath because we are co-heirs of the Kingdom of God in the name of Jesus Christ. We will not have to go through any part of the Tribulation, which will begin soon after the Rapture. We WILL feel the birth pangs (increase of earthquakes, hurricanes, famine, pestilence,
wars and rumors of wars, apostasy, false christs, and a hardening of the hearts.)

Our society will resemble the days of Noah and Lot.

Things are rapidly getting worse in the world around us. Israel is being attacked from all sides in the Middle East. "Natural" disasters are increasing in intensity. Homosexuality and abortion are becoming more prevalent in America and has been at an all time high everywhere else for awhile. Drug use has officially become legalized. I believe it will be soon that we will be Raptured from this earth and meet Jesus. This will take the restraining Spirit that holds the Antichrist at bay to be taken away as well. Then the tribulation will begin. It is an exciting, but sad, time in human history. I cannot wait though!
