okay now, first of all good weekend, i hope you spend it in a GOod way or the way you like to spend it!

before i start the post i must to mention i read from time to time articles about fitness and diet and stuff..
(and it seems that many articles seems to be about christian belivers and way they can keep in shape and to learn from that way aswell)

anyway i read something new earlier:
there are gyms of organisations or the gym's name is body by God (or some other names like that) in florida (and maybe in more places). they have gyms espcialy for and managed by christians in mind and belive, because the "normal" gyms are well mm not that much godly.
they have verses in the wall and they have trainers and preachers that encourage fitness and working to the limit by preaching and encouraging with verses from the bible and stuff. and they even have power bars called jesus snack or something like that (?- i dont know i read it in hebrew so its free translation). my question is: this is true? someone did go to those gyms or bought books with ideas like that or heared about it or anything related?
thanks in advance (:))

Believers sweat at first Christian gym chain

Welcome to Lord's Gym, America's first Christian fitness club chain.

The sign over the leg-press machine proclaims: "The weakness of God is stronger than man's strength" and the stock greeting among employees and clients is a simple, "God bless you!"

Over the bench press machine are the words: "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

Welcome to Lord's Gym, America's first Christian fitness club chain, where members with "His Pain Your Gain" tee-shirts use running machines, the Lion of Judah a symbol in the background at this south Florida gym.

Clients work out to Christian rock music, against walls painted with biblical frescos. The club's logo shows a muscle-bound Christ laboring under a cross bearing the words, "Sins of the world".

Standing near the elevator which opens on to a rock representing "the empty tomb where Jesus rose", club manager Jamie Barkley says he came aboard because, after 10 years in the health club business, he was fed up with the fashion-over-fitness mindset.

"The meat market mentality," the shaven-headed 39-year-old calls it, with "girls working out with all that makeup and things.

"We have a very modest dress code. We don't want people with thongs and stuff. Some people want to lose 200 to 250 pounds (90-113 kg) ... They don't have to see people half dressed."

At Lord's Gym, sports bras are mandatory, and tight spandex or form fitting shorts have to be covered by tee-shirts that drop below buttocks level.

"I came for the Christian aspect of it," says Barkley, who is married with eight kids, five of them adopted.

The 1,200 square metre club, with commandments written across the walls, has God and Jesus as the dominant theme - in the music, the paintings, as well as little magnetic plaques bearing scripture that can be stuck on whatever machine you're exercising on - for inspiration.

For those of the club's 3,300 members who have church membership, 10 per cent of the $US34 monthly fee is donated to their congregation.

"We have a Christian ethic," says Barkley, "but we don't force religion down your throat."

Shelly White, 26, and mother of an 18-month-old son, says she chose Lord's Gym "because of the free child care and the Christian atmosphere and the music they play".

"The employees care about you, they want to know you, they have families themselves," she said.

"The Christian aspect is a plus, a good motivation. I love the magnets, I love the dress code, it's not a meat market, you aren't coming to show off your body. My objective is to stay in shape, stay toned.

"The majority of the people I know are here for the Christian atmosphere."

Chiropractor Paul Sorchy and his wife Julie just bought the franchise, in a fast-growing area 20 minutes west of Orlando.

Five more are dotted across Florida, all profit-making, says Barkley. Ten others in California are non-profit.

At the "Garden of Eden Cafe," fruit juice cocktails include the "tree of life", "land of milk and honey" and "Josephine's surprise".

The drinks come in two sizes: a 20 ounce David, or a 24 ounce Goliath.

At the main entrance of the club, Barklay stands with a New Testament open in front of him as he greets visitors.

You can read about the Lord's Gym by typing christian gym in google.

j4jh, there is a chain of places in Florida with Christian gyms, yes! I saw a special about it on television a few months ago.

I would love it if they would open one here in Tennessee. I would go there and work out for sure.

I had a membership at a gym for awhile--very worldly. The televisions are always on certain channels and you can't change the channel. And some people at the gym seem to be coming there only to show off their bodies, it seems.

I work out at home now to praise music, on my treadmill, or I go outside and run the streets, weather permitting. (I've made friends with a lot of dogs on one certain country road.)

I do situps with my feet propped under the couch. My toddler, Caleb, likes to help with these. He likes to sit on my stomach. This makes it nearly impossible for me to do situps, but the ones that I do are very helpful. He also thinks it's hilarious when I do pushups. Fortunately, the treadmill is in the laundry room with a gate across it where Caleb can't get to me. He uses this as "free time", re-programming the phone, changing the channels on the t.v., and bringing up all sorts of things on the computer.

You probably think I'm exaggerating about my little boy, Caleb. I'm not. But I'm determined to stay in shape. I have to stay in shape to raise this little boy.

Wow! This makes me so excited!!! I've been asking the Lord to help me to find my carreer for the future that will let me honor Him. As you can see from my Name, I LOVE WORKING OUT! Its helped me in so many ways. So i've been telling alot of people that I want to look into a carreer as a fitness trainer. Praise the Lord! I believe this might be an answer to my prayers.
