...Break up your fallow ground for it is time to seek the LORD… (Hosea 10 vs12)

PART 1

I had last communicated with a certain lady (girl by then) some time back in time 2002… I was 18, doing high school by then and was not at the level that I am now in my walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, neither was I mature physically and mentally. After a period of about 5 years now, having left my home country and now responsible for a small computer laboratory at my workplace I managed to contact the lady back home through e-mail. It actually never crossed my mind that we might communicate again and only memories were what remained of her. The statement which says, ‘it is a small world' indeed holds true. I got her e-mail address from a friend I learnt with during our junior school, a network technician at the same company where she worked. They actually brushed shoulders at work I guess. Now a grown woman working at a (mobile) network system company… and having a good job I guess, she got surprised and was quite happy to hear from me. I was happy to communicate with a somebody I once thought I loved at that age and time. Whether I knew what I said and meant at that tender age is, of course, another matter altogether. Anyway the matter of discussion is this; she replied my letter with a very short one. Without me asking anything or saying anything to serve as a clue as to why I got in touch I got a statement from part of the letter which read exactly something like this; “I have realized everything passes away dear”. Now mature at this time ,it was really necessary to say that because it was really clear to both of us that now it was quite a different time. She went on to tell me of her plans that I heard from my good friend she worked with that she was going to get married before long.

Beloved I tell you from these words I quoted; EVERYTHING REALLY PASSES AWAY. I will remind you of one verse to bring to light the verse highlighted above that I quoted from the book of Hosea, 1 Peter vs 24 – 25 , “All men are like grass and their glory like the flower of the grass, the grass withers and the flower falls but the WORD of God abides forever”. Another reference of the same verse can be found at Isaiah 40 vs 6-8. At times those that are skeptical and made of hard hearts should be quick to note such scriptures. Even us Christians, at times we are not putting particular emphasis on such scriptures like these when we pass on the message to the unbeliever that they may also obtain mercy and have life. The everlasting glory will come, the everlasting life yes, but at times the issue is the immediate one at hand; what about this temporary life (on earth) we live… short lived though (it seems).

The only way to know surely that we will go the rest of the way safely and securely is THROUGH trust in GOD. All things of this earth will pass away and eventually death will follow, it is usually in old age when an individual sees such “truths” and “realities” with another eye that their faith is affected. But what does it help to remember something that you ought to have remembered and followed during the days of your youth. It reminds me of this saying I was discussing with my dad one time at home which says, “…age and wisdom go together but at times age goes alone…” We ought to be wise from the time of our youth till the time when we enter the grave strongly assured of the comfortable place God has prepared for us. Did Jesus not say in John 14 vs 1-4, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place I am going”. Where the LORD is going to be is where we are going to be. Is not that great? Oh yes it is! God is GOOD all the time. One statement by CHARLES SPURGEON I will always remember; [Come to the LORD in the morning days of your (youth) to be guaranteed of a long day of happiness before you.] Till when are you going to walk alone? I am not doing poems here, that question is not rhetorical. It needs an answer. You have been idle too long taken away by the things of the world. Open your eyes and see that it is the time to seek the LORD.

In the scripture heading above Hosea 10 vs 12, the Lord says let us plough our unplowed/idle/unplanted land for it is time to seek the LORD. It reminds me of Isaiah 55 vs 6 and 7, “seek the Lord whilst he may be found, call upon him whilst he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God for he will freely pardon”. Our God is Good. I remember one of the scriptures that will never ever leave my mind no matter what…. Nahum 1 vs 7; “the Lord is good. He knows these that take refuge in him”. I have also become a walking bible of some sort, I read these scriptures and as i go about other things.

I had also mentioned to this lady that I was now having a new life in the LORD JESUS and having him by the side always. Everything was just under control. Nothing too hard for me. That indeed I had explained in a way that closed out all possibilities of her taking me for somebody who was just following the crowd not knowing exactly what I meant. I have been good at professing my faith in the Lord Jesus and very outspoken about it. I also realized it has moved some people closer to the faith and greater faith still. In other words what this (EVERYTHING PASSES AWAY) familiar statement means is that soon there is supposed to come a time of planting. There is no way out, whether one is good or evil because still you have to answer before the Creator. My bible tells me well in Ezekiel chapter 18 that the Lord desires every soul to be saved. He goes on to tell us to get our selves a new Spirit and a new heart. King David confirms this when he says in Psalms 51 vs 12, “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit”. It is wonderful that we don’t have to make ourselves right in seeking the faith and putting our matter right with GOD. We don’t make ourselves right.

My bible tells me in Romans 3 vs 10-12, “no one has done right, no, not one there is noone who understands, noone seeks God. All have turned away and become worthless;there is noone who does good, not even one”. I say to you today beloved; Seek the Lord. We still look up to HIM to get the new Spirit he demands. He is sufficient for all. Let me tell you something…. All the requirements the Lord demands he supplies them! So where is the problem? What remains after all has happened is the WORD. Don’t waste time find the Lord. Shall we not rather rush to plant when it is the time to do so? Let us realize the benefits of continued faithfulness. By the time the voice calls out; it is time to plant [seek the LORD], somebody has already done so! I love my GOD. Because he is Good. Soon I will write PART 2 of this document. Much more scripture is available concerning this particular topic. Let us share all the good things we have in CHRIST Jesus as has been said by Galatians 6 vs 6; let us share the Word together "the teachers" and "the taught" thanks for reading this.
