Brokenness in GOD

Personally, I never understood why some believers say they need to be broken?? The Lord does not create broken people, the mindset of choice by people can be broken yes, but once you become a believer your mindset is fixed. Even a broken clock is right twice a day!! lol No where in scripture does the Lord say to his people you need to be broken, he rather states (Philip 4:13!!) Belief can only be broken by those believers who turn back, its choice which can be broken not the individual. This false doctrine is as bad as you have to give ten percent of your wages to the church! (2 Cor 9:6-15) Is ones need to be broken greater than one's belief is God's Word? I say no!

We are broken until God can fix us. Now as to christians being broken as a good thing... despite acknowledging the Lord as "our" Lord and savior.... ppl tend to be proud of this and that, relying on our own strength which has served us so well in the past, figuring that God will make us strong where we are weak and where we are strong, we dont need the Lords help (the Lord helps those who help themselves attitude). Pride causes many problems in our lives which can easily lead to sin that sometimes we cant even see (for example less empathy for those weak in areas we are strong in), and being broken (weakened in the area we always used to be strong in) can cause us both to look to the Lord for help more and have more empathy with those who have weaknesses in that area. Its a part of growing in our faith I think.

Hi Brother Brad, I see where you are going, the pride factor is not me, but in Christ Jesus in me. I boast never in myself, and I know you were not saying that! I just do not wish any misunderstanding about where I am coming from. My boasting lies in both gratefulness and thankfulness in our Jesus in EVERYTHING!! My concern is some place more faith in their feeling rather than God's Word. And that is dangerous! I know lol I used to do that! Example a few years ago the doctors said I had cancer, and that I would only live a few months and 6 they said, if I would have believed their words, I would have been dead, but I placed my faith in God's Word and said Lord you created me, you never died of sickness nor did your disciples, and I will not either!!

Your Word stands against all sickness (Matt 4:23) and many other scriptures I quoted out loud! 7 months later I went back to Veterans to boast about my Jesus over there lies! LOL, they checked me out and said as many non-believers would say WHAT??? The scan shows no more cancer in you, how is that possible??? LOL One nurse became a believer that very hour and I found out why this happened in the first place! GLORY be to our WONDERFUL Lord Jesus!! We do not always know why we are placed in darkness, but we find out as we place our full faith in our Jesus! I love you Brad in Christ Jesus just do not buy into feeling, for they can and usually do lead one astray.

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise."

But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."

So you are perfect now? No weaknesses? Strong in everything, but not your own strength, but the strength of the Lord? If so, then you are blessed.

LOL Perfect??? I wish!!! LOL My weakness lies in my flesh, I make mistakes as every person does! BUT!!!!!!! I am perfect in Spirit through our Lord Jesus! When I go before the throne of God and if an angel asks how shall the Lord Judge you? My reply will be (Phil 4:7-9!!) This is how I can keep my peace in myself. My weakness lies in being to blunt to people, I am working on that and allow the Lord rather than my flesh to lead me in all my words, I have a great deal of work to do in this one area!! I have other weakness which I will not share because it is no one's business but my own. I never mean to come across as perfect to anyone. I have feeling as you all do. I wish to come across as having been in my 70 years to help other brothers and sisters at least consider where they are at and to always be truthful to self, because if one cannot they can never be truthful to others.

Well then my original statement still stands true... in your case as well as most of us imperfect christians.

Simple. Because we trust what God’s Word says.
Do you believe repentance is necessary to be saved? Necessary in the life of a believer?

“Brokenness” before the Lord produces Godly sorrow. And God’s Word clearly tells us that “Godly sorrow works repentance which leads to salvation” (2 Corinthians 7:10)

It also tells us that there is one sure fire way to bring your prayers and appeals before the Lord and have Him move on them….that’s right…brokenness. “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” (Psalm 51:17)
Broken always? No, not always. But in a nutshell….spiritual brokenness IS a necessity in the life of a believer who is truly seeking to have a right relationship with God…..at least according to His Word.
