Caffeine and Cancer

I am having these thoughts, and they are just thoughts going around in my head. There is so much cancer, seems like alot more than there used to be. More and more people are downing way more coffee than people ever did. Some say the coffee at the coffee joints is souped up with even more caffeine than ever before. I heard a scientist say that in a petrie dish if you add caffeine to cells, it will actually change the DNA in the cells. So if it can change DNA, and more people are drinking more beverages with caffeine in them and there is more cancer, do you think caffeine consumption could be a possible link to cancer?
Health food people warn against caffeine in excess.

I drink a little coffee every now and then, but it's usually more more then about six cups a week, max. I'm more of a water drinker than anything.

I posted this as just something to think about. Caffeine also is in cola and chocolate. It would be interesting to know what the rate of cancer is in people who do not take in any caffeine at all to see how they compare with the rest of the population who do.

you need to Google this, but over the last several years, more studies have show coffee is beneficial in stopping cancer, amongst several other cures. No studies have found coffee to cause any cancer or heart disease. 3 to 6 cups of coffee keep Parkinson's and liver cancer at bay. Also, coffee is an antioxidant. Now, how about all those energy drinks. They cause High blood pressure, lack of sleep, heart palpitations, strokes, depression, mania, and the list goes on.

The scientist didn't really use coffee, just caffeine itself, when it changed the DNA in the dish. I know caffeine can cause all the things you mentioned, just never heard of coffee as good for Parkinsons and liver cancer. Maybe the bean itself has some merits straight caffeine doesn't have.
Its the caffeine the scientist poo pooed, thats in lots of other things besides coffee itself. I was mainly referring to the caffeine in the coffee, tea, cola, those drinks you mentioned. Was just thinking, no studies to back anything up. They are always trying to find the common link.....just a thought with so much caffeine consumption nowadays and so much cancer. It certainly does link alot of people up with a common denominator.

You have to take into account the Baby Boomer population. There are more of us than any previous generations. Therefore, the rates of illness and disease is higher as a population sampling. Example, breast cancer, heart failure, obesity. All these happened to our parents generation too, but there are more of us. More people today are dying of suicide than car accidents now. Plus scientists told us eggs, salt, saccharine, and coffee were bad for us, but studies have shown the opposite now.

There are some like me who drink 1 cup a day, and I do not dring cola drinks with caffeine. However I think there is a more serious issue than what we have eaten or drink. With people shoorting their life, what have they done anout their eternal life?

This is a great time to bring the talk back to Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this world more important than surrendering to Jesus Christ. And talking about habits, how often to we praym or read the Bible? In a pol I saw the Bible is the biggest selling book of all time, but the very least read. These things hit us all smak dab in the face. Now how about drinking coffee while reading the Bible, that's agreat combination!

Yes, you would have to deal in the precentages, not the actual number of cases. But I suppose there would be so many variables you wouldn't know if it was caffeine or something else people were doing or eating. It was just interesting to know that DNA can be changed by caffeine. Something to think about for people who were thinking of giving up their caffeine anyway. My sister had to give it up due to heart palpitations. She drinks decaf now. I know that coffee and tea play havock with my nervous system which isn't that great. I have allergies and am quite congested in the morning from the bedding even though it is washed once a week, so I really look forward to the caffeine to open the airways. That is one thing it is good at. So I haven't given it up yet.
Caffeine definitely does things, some good, some bad.
