And Jesus stopped and said, Call him. And they called the blind man, telling him, Take courage! Get up! He is calling you. Mark 10:49 AMPC

Jesus has the power to heal all types of blindness—the physical but also the mental, emotional, and spiritual. In fact, the latter types of healings are ultimately the most impressive. Whether we regain physical sight or not, we can always use correction and healing in our minds and hearts.

That’s why there’s a difference between calling someone out and calling him up. Calling a guy out means you’re busting him on some fault or misdeed (often so you can feel superior) but calling him up means you’re also offering suggestions for improvement and support along the way, because you want what’s best for him. We need both redirection and help, but we also need to be willing to receive it when it’s offered.

Jesus exemplified such a leader, one who both tells us when we’re off target and helps us hit the mark, one worth following. We all have our blind spots, and none of us likes to have them revealed. But with God, we can always trust that He does so for our highest good.

Prayer: Merciful God, You see the areas I don’t, the ones that keep me from knowing You and loving others more completely. When You reveal my blind spots, give me the courage to deal with them.
