Can I borrow $25?

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year

old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"

DAD: "Yeah sure, what it is?" replied the man.

SON: "Daddy, how much do you make an hour?"

DAD: "That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?" the

man said angrily.

SON: "I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an

hour?"

DAD: "If you must know, I make $50 an hour."

SON: "Oh," the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: "Daddy, may I please borrow $25?"

The father was furious, "If the only reason you asked that is so you

can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then

you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why

you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish

frivolities." The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the

door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's

questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money? After

about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and

he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of

the little boy's room and opened the door. "Are you asleep, son?" He

asked. "No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy. "I'v e been thinking,

maybe I was too hard on you earlier" said the man. "It's been a long

day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you

asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. "Oh, thank you daddy!"

He yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled

up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get

angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then

looked up at his father. "Why do you want more money if you already

have some?" the father grumbled. Because I didn't have enough, but now

I do," the little boy replied. "Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an

hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to

have dinner with you."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he

begged for his forgiveness. It's just a short reminder to all of you

working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our

fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to

us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of

your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily

replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave

behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

I love this story,
My friend sent it to me.
I missed a lot of time with my father.
I still dont see my him but its more than his Job that keeping us a part.

I love him, but the hours keep adding up. I would give anything to spend 5mins with my Dad.

Parents please take the time out for your kids, Yes another Job is hard to find, but time you can never get back.

God bless you both sisters ;) I never had a dad either while growing up, he was never there for me and until today after we've lived seperately for 4 years I still have nothing to do with him.

This isn't just about a dad though, it's about a little boy, needing love, which was probably my point in the first place, lol!

being from a home w/o my dad "around" much either physically or mentally - my mom taught me an incredible lesson: How my earthy Father is not able to love or care for me as I need him to do. BUT my Heavenly Father will always love and care for me. He will never leave me either. What a life lesson - my walk with the Lord has been built on that from a very young age. I do see God as my Father - the one who loves me first and best.

Life has not been perfect, but so full of peace for me being God's child. That deep knowing that even if Father and Mother no longer remember me - God says that I am His. Period. So I'm grafted into the family tree of the Creator of the world. God is so good. Jesus made it possible for my salvation, righteousness and love from Him. Thank you Jesus!

A very meaningful article.

We often don't know what we have, until it is gone. This I mean, a friend or a loved member of the family, could pass away, and we would really miss them so much.
Spending some time with our family and friends, and appreciating them for all that they are, is the best gift we can give to them and for ourselves.
Thank you for posting it.

Wow this really hit the right spot. Thank you sister for sharing this. What a perfect example of how parents should spend quality time with their own children. And this example also shows how the children do think of these things too. Its just amazing really.

I love this story it is great and also a big lesson to all parents. We sometimes forget how it was to be a child and just assume that our children must understand that we are busy and tired and just want to relax without interruptions after work.

But our children is more important than anything and if we just think back and remember how we felt when we were children, we will understand how they feel about wanting time and how important it is to them.

We sometimes forget in the hectic times we are living in and this is a great reminder to all.

Thanks a lot for posting, I'm learning a lot and I appreciate all the posts.

Blessings!
