I understand the death of our Queen is very sad, she was an excellent monarch, I respected her very much. She gave us all a life of duty. We love and respect her.
However, as Piers Morgan pointed out, is it not unnecessary overreacting to cancel all sports events? Why? Nobody ordered that. This causes great disruption to all those who have paid for tickets, booked hotels, time off work and so on. Huge losses of revenue all round. It seems random as to which other businesses are closing and for how long? There is no obligation nor good reason.
Also this is not a tragedy or a shock as was Diana's death. This is a natural death after an exemplary life of service of a loved very elderly Queen. Of course bring the country and world to a stop on the funeral day , that is absolutely the right thing.
But in the two weeks beforehand I see no need for random closure of already struggling businesses.
Charles will make a perfectly good king.
Am I speaking sense here?
