Anybody listen to Christian Metal?
My favorite bands are. Living Sacrifice, As I Lay Dying, Project 86, Saviour Machine, Haste The Day. Lots more.

I listen to Christian Metal and not much else As I Lay Dying are truely awesome you also might like to try Still Remains who are brilliant and Norma Jean who are totally original and Underoath although they are not very heavy.
These bands are a great example of how the whole stereotype of Heavy Metal being Satanic is completley unfounded, music whatever type is for everyone it should have no agenda to push. Christcoreist

Well, I like christian rock. Some of the metal bands are a little too much for me (not in what they say, but just how they do it...lol). I do love, though, Demon Hunter, Fly Leaf, and others. I get the Solid State CDs so I don't hear every song from bands like that. Project 86 is really awesome as well! I'm more of a rock girl (Audio Adrenaline, Pillar, Switchfoot, Hawk Nelson, TFK, House of Heroes, etc.).
Be Blessed!

You guys should check out 2 norwegian bands called "Extol" and "Benea Reach", both chrstian hardcore/metal bands from oslo scene. They both come from a church in Oslo called Sub Church wich also host some other great bands that are very popular in norway called "Silver", "Serenea Manesh" however "Extol" and "Benea Reach" are my favorites.
Extol was on tour in the US with "Demon Hunter" and "Agony Scene" I believe so it might be familiar to some of you. They also toured Europe with "Opeth".
"Benea Reach" Has played with Zao among others but are relativly new. The used to be called "Selfmindead". Very technical band. sort of a mix between Meshuggah and something entirely different :)
Do a google and check them out!

I love christian metal and hard rock music! I have over 80GB of Christian metal music on my computer lol. I literally know thousands of christian metal bands.

Christian metal is often times not very Christian IMHO. I used to listen to a lot of it mixed in with death metal before I came to Christ. I’ve seen many of those bands, and I used to be very involved with metal before I became a Christian. Read interviews of the bands before you decide on who is really a Christian.

I know the guys from Norma Jean support Slayer who is openly SATANIC. Slayers newest CD is called "The Christ Illusion". It has a nice picture of a mutilated Jesus on the cover. I quit my job when we got that CD in at work, and these guys are promoting Slayer in their most recent interview.

So ask yourself: Is a band who supports this kind of thing REALLY Christian? These bands mentioned all have an affinity for tattoos. I have seen 90% of them in tattoo magazines showing them off. It is debatable weather or not tattoos are openly sinful, but tell me that a Christian could not better spend that kind of money and you are deceiving yourself.

Some Christian metal is probably fine, but you better be extremely careful when you listen to metal. Much of metal is deeply rooted in hate and rebellion of religion, and anything as Christians we should hold as good, and much of it spills over on weaker Christians who find themselves involved with heavy metal one way or another. Metal is probably the ONLY genre where you will find people whose music worships satan. That should at least sound a buzzer.

I probably sound like an old geezer, but I am 23, and metal was my life for at least 3 years. Take this not as me being judgmental, but understand that as my brothers I love you, and wish for you only good things. Be Careful.

Apparently so but I have never heard of them.

I did a search and found this:

As I Lay Dying is a Christian metalcore band currently signed to Metal Blade Records. The name of the band is possibly taken from the novel of the same name by William Faulkner, although there is no lyrical correlation between the novel and the band. The band recently won the "Ultimate Metal God" award from MTV2 at the first annual "All That Rocks" special and also supported Welsh metalcore band Bullet For My Valentine on their UK tour.

God bless  :rainbow: :rose:

As I Lay Dying is a really awesome band, I love metal. and as for whether they are Christian or not this is a direct quote from their FAQ on their website:

"Are you guys Christians in a band or a Christian band?
I'm not sure what the difference is between five Christians playing in a band and a Christian band. If you truly believe something, then it should affect every area of your life. All five of us are Christians. I believe that change should start with me first, and as a result, our lyrics do not come across very "preachy." Many of our songs are about life, struggles, mistakes, relationships and other issues that don't fit entirely in the spiritual category. However, all of these topics are written about through my perspective as a christian."

"How can you be a Christian band and go on tour with bands who represent themselves as evil, satan worshipers?
We hope to intelligently represent a faith that has been very misrepresented in the entertainment industry. There isn't much diversity of thought within metal music and I believe it is important for people to understand opposing views before drawing conclusions. I hope other bands and their fans have an open mind and respect for what we are saying, so it's fair for them to expect the same from us. If truth is the basis of our belief, then the questions other bands/fans have are an important way to understanding what/why we believe. Most of the bands we tour with would never hear a well represented explanation of Christianity if we just stayed home."

this site is yelling at me when i try to post the link so i can site my source, but just google them and you'll find their site. then go to band, then faq.

Also everyone should check out Haste The Day's newest cd's. Oh, and The Showdown's too.

Metal!

Yeah, My fave right now is WAR OF AGES, but I also love Alove for enemies, and Demon Hunter. Christian music is definitely at its very best, especially Christian metal.
