I have listenened to a good deal of Christian music in my short life. But I found that a lot of it is "Cherry" or "Uplifting", it seems like everything is perfect all the time.

Now, don't get me wrong, with God by your side your life should be great, but even people with the strongest relationship with God have bad times/days. Going through those bad days being the best person you can is one of the hardest tests I go through as a teenager.

But during those hard days, I don't feel like, or I'm not in the "mood" to listen to uplifting Christian rock music. I feel like I need something that I can relate to, that yes, even the best people have tough times, and they get through it by just reminding themselves of who died for us.

Maybe this is just because I'm a teenager (18), but I am currently finishing a song (with guitar) that goes through someones self-discovery that no matter who stays or goes in your life, there is always someone by your side (Jesus).

I was wondering people's thoughts/comments on this. I don't want to finish off a song without it being the best it can be, and going along with the Bible as best as it can, maybe even some quotes or illusions to it.

*edit, I have been looking through these forums on rizen's posts about songs, very much like the type of songs i want to hear/write. Thanks Rizen

Thank you very much,
Landon

You're welcome Landon,

I love music,
music to me is a reflection of life, our daily issues and trails. I know exactly what you mean.
I was going through a rough time, I'll try to find music to set the tone. My cheery music as you put it, put a smile on my face, but when the song was over the pain was still there. Until one day. I heard this

She never slows down.
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's all alone, feels like its all coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down
[CHORUS]

I started crying, because that girl was me.
The chorus came

So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain ...(Superchick, stand in the rain )

If I didnt hear that song, I'd still be in the shadows, wearing a mask of happiness. I stood my ground that day and released myself of all my burdens. God knew I wasnt ready to admit the truth, so he used that song to show me.

My advice, let the holy spirit lead you.
There is someone out there waiting to hear the truth.
God bless.

Have you checked out the list in the chat room? There is nearly 70 songs there.

I know how you feel about music. The fact that you mentioned these worship songs seem to perfect (the bands/singers' lives?) is not true in actual fact. They are simply worshipping GOD wholeheartedly (as you can see anyway). They are on fire for GOD. Life is a rollercoaster, but worship doesn't have to be. At least that is something that we could learn as we grow in the Lord and mature over time and through experiences.

Yes Chad. I was listening to them the other day. But I wasn't only referring to the lyrics, but also the actual instrumental parts of the song. It is like everytime I hear a Christian song, before even the lyrics begin, I can tell it is going to be Christian. -Which isn't necesarilly a bad thing, but honestly, I'm not too fond of the "traditional Christian music style", if you know what I am talking about. Maybe I just haven't listened to enough Christian Music, but it seems like there is MercyMe, and then Underoath, there isn't really a middle ground.

I like country music and soft rock. And I haven't really found much Christian Music that fits into my music personality. I do like some Christian Songs like "I Can Only Imagine", or "Flood", but I find the majority of Christian songs, even though I like the lyrics, it isn't put into the style of music that I like to listen to.

I feel that a great piece of music can grab your heart, and with what I have heard of Christian Music, the lyrics are great, but, for me, it misses the instrumental to grab me (personally).

Oh, and Rizen, thank you for your comment. It is amazing what music can do.

Brother there are all kinds of Christian music out there, with different sounds.

Its time to change that, start exposing yourself to ONLY christian music.
If you want, I could share some with you.

Brother check out Leeland,, sounds of melody on the playlist on chat.

Yes, if you have any artists or songs that you recommend, I would be glad to look them up. I have been looking through your other threads, I haven't listened to them yet, but I am kind of short on time tonight, hopefully tomorrow I can.

And I don't necesarilly want to close my mind off from all other forms of music except Christian. I feel that I can learn a lot about people who haven't found Jesus/are trying to find Jesus. I hope to not only try to make music that focuses on people that already have found Jesus, but also people that still haven't found him.

I found also there are artists that are not "Christian" artists, but they do have good messages. I really like Keith Urban, I find he has a lot of good messages and it feels like it is straight from the heart, and other artists.

Thanks Rizen

It is at those times when I am low or feeling down that listening to uplifting praise and worship does help to lift my spirit up.

We know that Jesus has gone everything that we will endure in life and He knows how we feel. We just talk to Him and give our situations to Him and by the grace of God we are free. We know that God is in control but in the hard times we have to keep reminding ourselves of this fact. I like the song from Casting Crowns called ' Praise You in the storm'. They have some wonderful lyrics and the latest song 'East to west' is also very good.

I often look for songs on Godtube and if I cannot find them there then go to youtube as seeing pictures with songs is very moving too.

God bless
