I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place, I hope so.
My fiance and I are getting married at our hometown United Methodist Church. I was planning on using the Peacock and Peacock feathers as the theme for the wedding and putting them in flowers arrangements and other things.
I tried to find information on them and thought they were good. Now I have a friend who told me that they are bad luck and are thought to be evil. I've also read that the feathers shouldn't be brought indoors.
Although, I don't think that necessarily all the feathers used would be real, some would be fake.
After googling this, I've found different points mentioning that the peacock is a symbol of Christianity and renewal and resurrection. But I've also found it it thought to be the evil eye according to greek mythology.
My mother-in-law is supposed to be checking with our Church, but I am very interested in hearing others opinions and finding out the facts about this. I definitely don't want to doom the marriage before it even starts by having something unchristian involved.
I would appreciate your help.
Thanks!
