2c. Butter, 61/2c. Flour, 1/2c. Marg, 3 egg yolks, 1 cake yeast (little square in egg section), 1t salt, 1c. Milk, 1t. van.

Mix-Chill-Roll out with pdr sugar..........Cut in sq.-----drop filling (nut or apricot most often used from a jar) on each.....Roll up and place on ungreased sheet. bake 375* until brown.

I have not made these but my family always did. Funny the spelling is Kife, but we always said: "Kiffles". hmm don't know why...

African Bean cake "olele"

-Takes two or three cups of beans, depending on the amount required.
Put it in a container and add wter to the fill.
-Let it soak for a day-this is for the outer shell to be easily removed.
-After the aforesaid day, you use your hands to remove the outer shell.
Use a blender or something of that sort to make the bean extremely smooth and pastey.
-Put the paste into a container and add your spices.Spices include enough salt, maggi, pepper, onion...
-Next up, stir the paste with a wooden spoon until you're sure that the spices have mixed
-Get some small size plastic bags into which you pour the paste into. The number of the bags will correspond to the amount you take.
-Take a pot and set it on fire. But make sure you place papers, say old magazines in the lining at the bottom of the pot.
-put the bags in the pot and add water till it reaches the middle.
-Leave it to boil until it is ready. This should take about thirty to forty-five minutes

Chad?

I've didn't know that a cake could be made of beans? Is this used for Christmas time celebrations?
