CLASSICAL BLUNDER OF PRETERISM, AMONG MANY:
-
How so???
-
It is a false doctrine based upon the assumption that in Rev 11, the "temple" that is measured, along with the altar and those that dwell therein yielding a time period of 42 months, is the literal second temple. From there it moves to the reasoning, "Oh! Since the temple is still standing as we can surely see from John writing concerning same, this means John wrote Revelation before 70 CE." This is reckless, uninformed, abandonment of OT and even the earlier NT writings.
-
From there, they go even earlier yet, by concluding the time period of 42 months is how long the siege against the temple lasted, and therefore is what indeed this scripture is referencing. This then means, if it is prophetical in nature, which it certainly is, then John wrote previous to 66 CE.
-
This, within normal reasoning, means additionally . . . John had numerous copies handprinted, of the 22 chapters, and sent all over the Roman Empire whereby God could hold all responsible.
-
Keep in mind this was future, by only a few months or days prior to the 42 months projected as 66-70 CE siege per what Preterists. particularly FP, want us to swallow.
-
THEN please realize, their whole premise that Revelation was written prior to this siege of 66 CE and distributed, stands or falls based upon their interpretation of Rev 11:1-2.
-
As Jesus said to the Sadducees concerning the resurrection, we also state to this doctrine and those that hold same, "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God" (Matt 22:29).
-
Let us look at the scriptures that contribute to this subject, and then we will give conclusion and summation.
-
Rev 11:1-2
1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2 But the court, which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.
-
Isaiah 11:1-5 Messiah has the Spirit of God upon, and in him.
-
Isaiah 61:1-2a
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; ....
-
Malachi 3:1-2
1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and THE LORD, WHOM YE SEEK, SHALL SUDDENLY COME TO HIS TEMPLE, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.
2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:
-
Mark 1:9-13
9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
-
II Corinthians 5:19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
-
We see also from Malachi 3:1-2 and Mark 1:9 above, that God, the Lord, coming to his temple - Messiah, was associated with the coming first of John the Baptist.
-
Now finally we arrive at John the Apostle's witness, the same John that wrote Rev 11:1-2, and "measure the temple" and coming to a time period of 42 months.
-
John 2:18-22
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
-
So, let us terminate Preterist confusion on this:
-
The Temple where the shekinah glory dwelt, which never came to the second temple, came upon Jesus. HE WAS THE TEMPLE OF GOD. THE PERIOD OF TIME HE WAS TO CONFIRM THE COVENANT WAS 7 years. HOWEVER, after fulfilling only the First Half or 3 and 1/2 years, spring 26 CE - fall 30 CE, he was cut off in the midst of those 7 years, and Israel nationally never saw him again, whereupon he left in Acts 1 ten days before Pentecost.
-
The Last Half of the 70th Week MUST be fulfilled by solely Messiah, and he was gone. Therefore, Rev 11:1-2 is future from then, and the period of time Jesus is returned to Israel and Jerusalem for the 42 months AFTER THE SEVEN TIMES OF THE GENTILES, Lev 26:18-39, the outer court that was unknown as to measurement, and therefore not measured, but given to the Gentiles, is finished.
-
Hence about 30 years after the literal temple is destroyed, Messiah appears to John, so there is no question of what time period Jesus is referencing. John also clearly understood that Messiah was the temple of God, with the vision of the events of the Day of the Lord.
-
This vision projection of 42 months was far into the future, after the outer court given to the Gentiles, the undetermined time period of Lev 26:18-39 is terminated in the second coming. This is the timing, when ended, that is called by Paul "the fullness of the Gentiles," when the Deliverer is back, Rom 11:25-27, for Israel's national salvation in proper government of Messiah under the Sovereignty of God, Ezekiel 21:24-27, Hosea 3:4-5.
-
However, it too is tread under foot of the Gentiles, the league of the Zionist State with Revived Rome / UN / USA, in trespass of that 42-month time specifically set aside for Messiah. Therefore, the judgment sits from that time, Daniel 7:24-27, to bring Israel to repentance, establishing the Kingdom of God when the saints take the kingdom.
-
This brings the events fulfilled, moving to WHEN EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM IN THE APPEARING. Amen.

**********************************
SEE - WHY Daniel's 70th Week is split in the midst, leaving 42 months from the end of Lev 26:18-39, the Seven Times of the Gentiles, AND . . . WHY there are TWO GENERATIONS, one ending in 70 CE and one ending in our day after 1984 now upon us.
