[As for] God, His way [is] perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He [is] a shield to all who trust in Him. For who [is] God, except the LORD? And who [is] a rock, except our God? Psalm 18:30-31 NKJV
According to 2 Samuel 22:1, David—the future king of Israel—wrote Psalm 18 as a song of celebration after the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies and from the hand of the murderous King Saul.
David knew the sole source of the strength he needed to defeat his enemies, and he set an example we should all follow when he took the time to write words of praise and gratitude to his God.
The Lord wants His people to take refuge in Him always, and especially during times of trouble or suffering. He wants to be our rock, the foundation of every part of our lives. He will never falter or fail us when we call out to Him for help—in our spiritual lives, in our emotional lives, or in our physical lives.
Take heart today, for you can always take confidence in the Lord.
Prayer: Father in heaven, I take heart in knowing that You are perfect in all Your ways, making You the perfect rock upon which I can build my life. I choose to run to You for protection, comfort, and direction. You along are my God!
