cooking problems:

Hi there sister

I guess it depends on what you use for making gravy. Bisto has instructions for making it but my son makes such good gravy. He adds a little water and stirs it up adding more as needed to get the consistency he needs.

God bless :rose: :rainbow:

Oh, I have the secret to this. Buy a little box of cornstarch. It works better than flour and tastes just as good! It doesn't get lumps.

Take about a tablespoon of cornstarch (depending on how much gravy you are making) and stir about 1/3 cup of water in it with a fork until smooth. Add gradually to your broth on stove while stirring. If you want your gravy thicker then just repeat the process, using a little less cornstarch next time.

Enjoy!

yes. cornstarch is delicious and makes great gravy. But if you want flour gravy just put a tablespoon or more as you need into a jar with cold water...cold is important...shake until smooth and pour into sauce. Stir and there you go........

Or put tablespoon or more as you desire into drippings and stir until flour is cooked for about one minute then add milk or water ........stir and there you go........

I don't have the gift of gravy either. The last time I did the corn starch method - i put in way too much (added to my turkey drippings - just like my mom always did. It was slow to thicken, so I kept adding the c.s. - we tried it and pitched it out. lol! My dear husband likes gravy, but is trying to be healthy so it is not on the menu but in a rare meal.

There is a great product in the USA called Gravy Master. This is also the company name and it comes in a small brown jar with an orange label. It's a seasoning and browning sauce so you'd only use it for brown sauces. You can type in Gravy Master to Google and get recipes and how to use it. I wish we had that stuff in Finland.

I love Food

Well it does depend on what you're cooking,

I usually heat oil in a pot, then add brown sugar.
The sugar will melt leaving a brown source, you have to stir it, then I'll add my chicken and whatever veggies. then you'll add water to boil for the chicken to cook.

If you properly season your chicken, when added you get a tasty stew, with just little additions needed.

I'm not a pro, I learnt from watching my mummy, and grandma

So fill in the blanks if needed.

Oh you have to reduce the heat, and the gravy will thicken
