I've been looking for counseling! But, more than that, I've been looking for one-on-one Bible study with someone. I didn't find anybody yet, but maybe somebody who posts here with me will volunteer. Is this faith? I think it is. I've been looking for someone to study the Bible with. Maybe, if I weret to be more specific, in this case I could say that I'm looking for counseling from God. Human counsel doesn't seem to last very long, but I bet God's is eternal. This brings me back to that one verse that talks about the unseen being eternal, and the seen only temporary. Maybe that's where we should start.
I have a particular person I want to study with. I don't remember his/her username, though. I'll go see what it is, and then I'll come back . . .

It's SaviorNChrist. It seems like I'll learn quite a bit from him.
I have to go, now.

amen about not fixing our eyes on the temproal. he put that scripture in my spirit too. also the earth and the fullness thereof belongs to the lord. so why do we look at our mountians? our problems? which when the Lord returns the mountians will melt away(temproal) what is eternal? the spirit of the Lord. in us yes. how do we get more? fruit of the spirit is in galatians5 but how do we get more?
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Joh 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

please add something to this. anything. im asking the Lord for more. maybe he will give more thru one of you.

By Topic

I appreciate the effort, but I don't like to read in chapters. I like to go bit by bit and under topic. Right now I want to learn growth, because I just turned 17 Saturday, November 7 (so now you know my birthday). I tried reading from cover to cover, but it just got boring after a while, no offense to God or His word. I would never even try to offend God! I want to spend time with Him because I love Him and I'm very passionate about Him! That's why I want to get into His word!

Hebrews 10:1-17

Do you remember when I started reading Psalms? Psalm 1:2 says, "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night." In our time, since we don't have the law anymore because of what today's passage says, because it does not cover our sins like Christ's sacrifice did, we refer to "the law" as the Bible, right? So instead of meditating on the law day and night, we should meditate on God's Word day and night.

growth huh?
check it. chapter 15 of john. read it. study it.
Joh 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

that word purgeth means to cleanse, that is, (specifically) to prune
ive done my share of lawn and landscaping and some research on vines and hedges and even fruit trees. there is a specific way(he is the way truth and life) to prune. and when done properly it stimulates "growth" and productivity of fruit.
study this chapter and galatians 5 also. i hope it blesses you.

edit part: people who prune sometimes refer to pruning as training the plant. or training it to grow.

While it is not what I normally do I must say that once I started it I kind of like it. It was a commitment I made and I will do the whole year, after that I will more than likely go back to reading the New Testament 2x's and then the Old Testament once which is my normal pattern.

I can understand how someone with little experience could have a hard time reading from cover to cover. The Old Testament is Christ concealed and the New Testament is Christ revealed. Once you have an understanding of the New the Old comes alive with new meaning.
One thing is for sure; Jesus prayed and the Father sent the Holy Spirit to be our teacher. Do not read the Word of God without asking this wonderful teacher what that Word means and how it applies to your life.
As someone just getting into the Word I recommend reading the Gospels which are Jesus relating to lost people and Jews along with His main purpose of fulfilling the Law and paying the price for our sin.
The Book of Acts details the birth of the church and then there are the Epistles. The Epistles not only give us our doctrine but are God's love letters to His bride the church.

I have read all of Matthew once. I'm doing a Bible study everyday after my 1st-block class in front of the Epic Center (I have an off-site EFE - Education for Employment - and its at the Epic Center in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan. To me, it's like going on a field trip everyday), and I seem to be learning well from her. I'm on growth with her too, but I've got to have a Bible study partner anywhere ever possible if I'm going to have my schedule wrapped around God's Word. I've learned to do that too. When I'm not doing Bible study, everyday I send myself messages on my new Boost Mobile (I got it Monday) that have versed from Psalms. It has a date book where I can actually plan which verses I put into my phone and study myself each week. I think it's pretty cool.

Keep feeding that inner man and he will grow and prosper.:shade:

As the Holy Spirit breathes upon that Word it comes alive to us meeting us right were we are. Soon we become renewed in our mind and our body follows our thoughts. Now we are living like Jesus.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Col 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Col 3:7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
Col 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Col 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Have an awesome day my friend!
