I have posted and participated in a couple of subjects having to do with 'politics' in this 'News Stand' category. They in turn have been moved to the 'water cooler' area.

What am I doing wrong here. The 'News Stand' is advertised as a place to place political subjects. Which is what I did. And in reviewing other subjects that are allowed, I see political subjects.

I do not understand.

It would depend on whether your posts site a news article.

Many political posts are the subjective view of the member, siting no news article and have often been very opinionated or trouble stirring.

They may not reflect world news but more so the opinion of the member.

If some posts have been left inappropriately in the News Stand that is probably because the mods haven't had a chance to see or move them.
