I was wondering what you thought about Danny Gokey, a previous worship pastor being in the American "Idol" competition? I must admit that while I do not like the title of the show, I do follow it and enjoy watching the singers perform. I was so sure that Danny was going to be in the top two and for weeks I had been hoping that Adam Lambert (who has been in photos all over the web kissing other males and who is outwardly gay) would be voted off. After Miss California let us down with those underwear photos I was hoping Danny would use his fame to glorify God.
However, I am wondering if people even agree that a Christian should participate in these types of shows (that draw attention to oneself). Well anyway, now that Danny is gone, I will be voting for Kris because I do not want Adam Lambert to win, although in my gut, I feel he will win anyway because unfortunately faith doesn't play a role in people's voting and too many people seem to not care about his sexual preference. What are your thoughts?
Iam not sure I hate the name of the show too.I so enjoy watching it my picks were Danny and Kris. I can tell you more doors of opportunity was opened for now Christian artist Mandisa, and Chris Sligh, after appearing on AI
I was actually discouraged this season by the way the judges showed favortism and Simeon being so rude to Kris.Adam was pretty shocked he thought he had won and Simeon was ticked after the Kris won with his arms crossed and a sour look on his face all the judges stood up but him.
Should a Christian draw attention to oneself? I have thought about this too. I am reminded it's not just on Idol it's at the DOVE awards,
the christian singing competitions, and I think of David performing for Saul and in the streets.
If it is wrong for the 'christian' Danny Gokey to compete in a talent show...then it is also wrong for those who deem themselves 'christian' judges to participate as viewers.
My question would be, if a Christian should not participate in these types of shows...whats a Christian doing watching these shows...
If it is wrong to "draw attention" to oneself by performance...the whole of Christiandom is in heap-big-trouble.
I would`nt expect the "world" to even try to live up to Gods standard of righteousness, that would be like a mudpuddle trying to be a fresh water spring...

I was also disgusted by the way Simon treated him and always made Adam look so much better than the rest of the contestants. I was upset from the beginning when Kris introduced his wife and Simon told him he shouldn't have revealed his wife so soon. Simon also criticized Kris on several occasions saying that he was too humble. It did not appear to me at all the Kris was drawing attention to himself and it seemed really clear after he won and he shook his head as if to say he felt he didn't deserve to win. I am thrilled that he won but I am so sick of the media saying that America got it wrong and saying that he only won because he got the Christian vote and that Adam's homosexuality played a roll.
I was also looking at AI a lot and enjoying the performances by the contestants , although mainly for inspiration (i really love singing), i too had a few picks. I thought Allison would have made it a little further....i admired that Danny was able to remain his true self and wanted him to win. When he was voted off i thought Adam would have won because of the way the people seemed about him and i liked his voice (didn't really like his personality tho)...i really thought he would have won.
However, during the last night i somehow had a feeling that Kris would have won because i thought Adam looked too much like a showoff and clearly he thought that he would have won. And to me there always seem to be a twist to things when they start off like that. I'm really glad Kris won because he seemed humble. The world needs more humble people.
