You know how you read scriptures and spend time with God, but sometimes it just takes a bit for understanding to kick in with what you just read. I guess that's why God tells us to come to him if we lack understanding (wisdom) and that if we'd ask for it he'd give it to us without holding back. Anyways.... I've come to realize some things.
The devil always works the same way: he deceives. Take for example Adam & Eve in the garden. Adam and Eve walked and talked with God, had a relationship with God and ruled over the Earth through God. Everything belonged to them. But the devil DECEIVED Eve! He told her that SHE could be JUST like GOD if she ATE the fruit. (GENESIS 3:5 NKJV "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.")
He got her to question what God said and confused her... by saying: Did GOD REALLY SAY NOT TO TAKE A BITE? But the thing is, EVE AND ADAM already RULED over the EARTH, so why would they need to eat the fruit to GAIN what they already had? I guess Eve didn't think about it at the time, but that's how cunning the Devil can be if we're UNAWARE OF HIS TACTICS and don't OBEY GOD God will never lead us to harm, so if we'd learn to TRUST HIM at his word, we'd reap blessings in our life. But when we're listening to the lies and deceits, not even realizing they're lies (that's why reading God's word is important, to renew our minds), we're suseptible to belive anything thrown at us.
In the New Testament, Jesus was tempted to be deceived by the devil. (SEE THE DEVIL doesn't play fair, he even tempted JESUS!). But Jesus knew HIS FATHER and WHO HE WAS through GOD! He was able to easily say NO to what the devil was trying to have him do. The devil was telling him to do certain things to PROVE something. But b/c Jesus already knew what was his, he didn't have to prove anything. 1 Peter 5:8 NKJV( "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.")
Anyways, just some things to think about. God wants us to walk in full wisdom and knowledge. I would highly recommend reading the Ephesians prayers as you learn about God and Who he is. Ask God to give understanding that you would see the truth. We have God's spirit on the inside of us, it's just a matter of getting our heart established through knowledge on HIM!
I'd love any feedback or comments!
