Deliverance

Greetings,

Deliverance is a very good thing!
What you understand about it and therefore what you are asking might be different from what I might be thinking but if you consider a parcel that is to be delivered, it needs to not only leave where it is but also needs to get to where it's going otherwise it won't be delivered!
Also, parcels don't pick themselves up and walk or swim or fly to their destination - they need a Someone to deliver them.

Regarding things of the Spirit, and your question relating to the Holy Ghost,
Without Him we can do nothing.

I'm sure that other members might post answers but remember to keep it simple. Lots of often well meaning people give all sorts of advice but often they can be either confusing or wrong and we can be led into all sorts of what amounts to witchcraft type of stuff which of course is very wrong.

I am moving this thread to counseling.

Bless you ....><>

Greetings again,

A few Scriptures from the Bible :

13 He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.
1Chronicles 11:13-14

Ezra 9:13-15
13 And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;
14 Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
15 O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

Psalm 18:46-50
46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

Luke 4:1-22
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

Bless you ....><>

Jesus is really our first Comforter, but...
"...I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you" John 14:16-17

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

Deliverance is a good thing. What's called deliverance by many is not a good thing. There are men like Bob Larson out there who do nothing but hurt people.

Nothing that is worth being done can be done without the Holy Ghost, me thinks anyway.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; - Mark 16:17

It's silly to walk out into a warzone without any training or derective. It's a good way to get shot. Engaging the enemy shouldn't be taken lightly. Apart from Christ, we would be squished like little ants.

Blessings,

Travis

my husband is a Christian but he smokes.

He smells of smoke
He needs deliverance? yes right?

Is delieverance a good thing or a bad thing and can it be done without the holy ghost ?
Deliverance is a subjective thing. You can be delivered from many things, in many ways in this world without the Holy Spirit.
Deliverance from the eternal punishment for sinful ways, can only be accomplished with the Holy Spirit!

Yes because there is a demon or a unclean spirit of nicotine in him so either he can fight his addiction and sooner or later the demon/spirit will leave his body or he can have a deliverance but after the deliverance if he decides to do it again the demon/spirit will come back seven times worse. Good luck.

Do you know by the Holy Spirit that this man who smokes has a demon or unclean spirit? While I agree that he needs deliverance from this smoking habit, the demon is not necessarily in him. I agree too that it makes little difference whether its inside, outside or beside. We have authority over any spirit. I'm just asking where you got this piece of wisdom. Talk to the Father first Let him guide you.

Dear Andy,
it depends on what meaning is attached to deliverance. Deliverance from Hell and Sin? Yes!
Many meaning have been attached to the word that it almost means meaningless.
That being said, deliverance from bondage of Sin, death and hell is definitely a good thing.
And Yes, it cannot be done apart from the Name of Jesus and the Power of the Holy Ghost!

my husband is a Christian but he smokes.
He smells of smoke He needs deliverance? yes right?
No! He needs fear of God.
He is smelling because he takes God lightly when He said He will destroy who destroy His temple, referring to our body.
Once he knows how serious God takes His Word and who God is, he will, by Grace of God stop it!
