I need some input and advice on this please. Recently my husband has been spending a lot of time going to this house group, whereby they are discussing on how to get rid of generational curses, I wanted to attend this too, and when I went to the first one, I found is was in different language that I don't understand, so I pulled out. But my husband continued on with it. I was happy and content with him going until a few weeks back when he told me when they had to go another place/church to say the prayer to get rid of the curses. I wasn't happy, and I didn't understand. So I asked him (my husband) to show me the scriptures, whereby one needs to go to another place for this to happen, he didn't provide me with any scriptures nor could the group, all he was told and kept saying, there was too many distractions at the house and the prayer could not take place or be done there.

My husband even said, because I contested it, he thought the devil was working through me to stop him going. But I insisted and told him, the Holy Spirit is within each and every one of you. They are 10 of them that are attending this course and when you pray to have these curses released from you, Jesus will be in the midst of you.

Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

My husband is not stupid and he does know this, but he still went along.

Last week, while he was showering, he said he saw demon dog type creatures at his feet, clawing at him behind some class, he rebuked them and they disappeared. This was in our home, but it didn't frighten me, I just went to our Father and asked for protection.

3 men from this group has seen similar demons appear before them. Also one of those guys, who was at the prayer group at the church on Monday, said he could not pray because there was demons in that place, he went out of the room for some time and he came back and he could then pray, after which he then saw some light.

Now I don't know what is going on here and I don't understand what my husband is getting into. The thing that really concerns me, these men from that group are seeing demons, this concerns me a lot. I have never experienced this, I do sense the spiritual evilness around me, but never have I seen something like this.

Is there anyone here, who can shed some light to this.

Thank you LLJ for directing me to this article. I have had a quick read through it and also sent it my husband

For what I understand, for one to be delivered from curses, this can be done anywhere, by praying and to fast. Now I could understand for going to another place if an elder or pastor of the church was present, but in this case this did not happen.

Jesus is our example. If we are not in close communion with the Father, how will we be able to hear His instructions when discerning and praying for deliverance? We need to fast and pray if we find our faith and closeness with God being attacked, then we will be able to exercise our faith when praying for others and see them set free in the name of Jesus.

Also and most important, one needs to fully believe that the unclean spirit has gone.

I will do some more searches, as I did do a google search for "seeing demons" but not much came up.

Hi there dearest sister Word of Life.

I may not have the best choice of words to give you comfort, but I know the Holy Spirit is the best comforter of all.

I want to show you this scripture today. I want you to read it carefully, especially the words I show in bold.

Mark 7
Clean and Unclean
1The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus and 2saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were "unclean," that is, unwashed. 3(The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. 4When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.)

5So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, "Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?"

6He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
" 'These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.' 8You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men."

9And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! 10For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.' 11But you say that if a man says to his father or mother: 'Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a gift devoted to God), 12then you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother. 13Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that."

14Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "

17After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18"Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? 19For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")

20He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' 21For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "

I believe this is very true in a believers life, Jesus said:

"Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "

This is how I view possession and such. I think the main thing to remember is that we are Christians, having faith in Jesus, with the Holy Spirit living in us. There is a fine line to be drawn here. But I believe Jesus is saying that the evil does not enter us, rather it comes out of us.

This is not true for non Christians. It's a different view, and one of my many different views. I don't think Jesus was merely speaking about food here on that day. I think he was talking about evil, even evil spirits.

What is the next step to take?

I believe a sinful activity, or wrongful action is taking place between this group of people. Jesus said the evil generation asks for signs. This may be one reason. Another reason may be that the house where they gather is not so peaceful during the week and the evil that is there is making itself at home in their own homes. Why should the evil turn away once a week?

Pray, pray the whole day long. Jesus rebuked the spirits with one or a few words normally. He did not have conversations with them. We don't converse with Satan and his followers.

Luke 11:14-28
Jesus and Beelzebub
14Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed. 15But some of them said, "By Beelzebub, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons." 16Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven.

17Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. 18If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebub. 19Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 20But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

21"When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. 22But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up the spoils.

23"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.

24"When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' 25When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. 26Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first."

27As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you."

28He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."

Believing in the words of Jesus, and by making sure that we follow His only words, located in the Word of God, following the Master and living for Him. Jesus will not turn us away.

God bless
Much love

They are playing with the demons. Entertaining themselves and each other.

Jesus never entertained demons. He once asked their name, and they said, "Legion", which means, 'many', and then He said, "Go."

Simple as that.

Thank you teraside for your explanation and those scriptures. I do fully understand what you are saying here, and it's very clear to me. I just need to make this clear to my husband.

I will print, what you wrote, for him too, so that he can read it at home and digest it. I have also spoken to my mum about this too, and she even spoke to my husband, warning him about all this, but he still continued with it.

You see when he was at one of the meetings, someone told him and the others there, watch out and for-warning them, that the devil will try to stop you doing this prayer. So now he thinks, when we, me and my mum are trying to advise him, he is not listening and saying things like, we are the devil. What concerned me more, they could have prayed at the house. They could even have rebuked anything that was evil within that home first, pleading the blood of Jesus Christ around them, then only afterwards, do their prayers for deliverance from these curses. To me that seems more logical and would make more sense.

God bless you for writing this out so nicely, it's so clear to me. I just need my husband to see it.

Thank you Dreamer.

I know what you are saying here, sometimes one can focus too much on satan and not on the goodness of our Lord Jesus. I fell for this trap too, I was reading up, on all about satan and not focussing on God. It's good to know about him and his ways and tactics, knowing our enemy is wise, but one needs to spend more time learning and focussing more about our lovely Lord Jesus, as it's only through Jesus we have victory from the devil. My husband knows this too, so I am surprised by what he did and is doing.

Now, I am dealing with these curses as and when our Father is revealing them to me. I am dealing with stubbornness at the moment, it's been all through our family on my dad side, and I am praying and asking God for deliverance from it. And I know He will heal me from this.

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Keep the faith sister. Don't worry too much. Keep praying, send a few sms's to your close friends and ask them to join you in prayer and stay strong.

Psalm 18 (New International Version)
For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:
1 I love you, O LORD, my strength.

2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise,
and I am saved from my enemies.

4 The cords of death entangled me;
the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

5 The cords of the grave coiled around me;
the snares of death confronted me.

6 In my distress I called to the LORD;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came before him, into his ears.

7 The earth trembled and quaked,
and the foundations of the mountains shook;
they trembled because he was angry.

8 Smoke rose from his nostrils;
consuming fire came from his mouth,
burning coals blazed out of it.

9 He parted the heavens and came down;
dark clouds were under his feet.

10 He mounted the cherubim and flew;
he soared on the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him—
the dark rain clouds of the sky.

12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced,
with hailstones and bolts of lightning.

13 The LORD thundered from heaven;
the voice of the Most High resounded.

14 He shot his arrows and scattered the enemies ,
great bolts of lightning and routed them.

15 The valleys of the sea were exposed
and the foundations of the earth laid bare
at your rebuke, O LORD,
at the blast of breath from your nostrils.

16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
he drew me out of deep waters.

17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes, who were too strong for me.

18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the LORD was my support.

19 He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me.

20 The LORD has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD;
I have not done evil by turning from my God.

22 All his laws are before me;
I have not turned away from his decrees.

23 I have been blameless before him
and have kept myself from sin.

24 The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself blameless,

26 to the pure you show yourself pure,
but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.

27 You save the humble
but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

28 You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light.

29 With your help I can advance against a troop ;
with my God I can scale a wall.

30 As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him.

31 For who is God besides the LORD ?
And who is the Rock except our God?

32 It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect.

33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he enables me to stand on the heights.

34 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35 You give me your shield of victory,
and your right hand sustains me;
you stoop down to make me great.

36 You broaden the path beneath me,
so that my ankles do not turn.

37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them;
I did not turn back till they were destroyed.

38 I crushed them so that they could not rise;
they fell beneath my feet.

39 You armed me with strength for battle;
you made my adversaries bow at my feet.

40 You made my enemies turn their backs in flight,
and I destroyed my foes.

41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them—
to the LORD, but he did not answer.

42 I beat them as fine as dust borne on the wind;
I poured them out like mud in the streets.

43 You have delivered me from the attacks of the people;
you have made me the head of nations;
people I did not know are subject to me.

44 As soon as they hear me, they obey me;
foreigners cringe before me.

45 They all lose heart;
they come trembling from their strongholds.

46 The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God my Savior!

47 He is the God who avenges me,
who subdues nations under me,

48 who saves me from my enemies.
You exalted me above my foes;
from violent men you rescued me.

49 Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O LORD;
I will sing praises to your name.

50 He gives his king great victories;
he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed,
to David and his descendants forever.

Thanks teraside.

The church I sometimes go to, has a 5 day prayer meeting, starting this Sunday, through too Wednesday, finishing off the following Sunday. It's called Pentecost 2007.

It's all still new to me, but I do know my prayer time does need looking into.

God bless you sister Word of Life. Keep us posted on what decisions your husband and his friends decided to make.

Remember to include your husband in your thoughts and ideas, although it may seem he is a little distant from you, maybe in another place than you, give him the love and support a Christian wife ought to give her husband.

Pray without ceasing.

Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

1 Corinthians 14:15
So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Dear sister,

I have seen a lot of this from the inside and out, even seen manifestations as I have prayed for people...all glory to God in the name of Jesus...and I understand fully your situation. To start with, squirt some flyspay up the devil's nose by praising God, in Jesus name.Remember to praise the LORD, and don't bother with the enemy...ignore him. Take note of what everyone has told you here, and keep close to your Lord. Don't provoke your husband too much, but remain faithful to the Lord...it's a wonderful time for you to do this ...He will minister to you as never before....seems strange, but give thanks to the Lord.

I'll be praying, sister, for you and your husband.

My people are destroyed by/through lack of knowledge....
too many mess with things they don't understand, relying on their own understanding and that of others who know no better.

Unless you have clear Scripture backed revelation...not half-baked excitement, unless the unction from the Spirit is clear, do what you know to do. Love and be faithful. AND do not fear the devil, or anything else that comes out of this. FEAR the LORD, only. It is healthy. Listen politely to your husband, reason gently with prayer, and rejoice with him if he feels closer to Jesus from this. Love him, in Jesus name.
The enemy delights to get our attention.....we are called to look to Jesus.

Bless you,

Br. Bear

Hi Word of Life,

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." (Ephesians 6:18)

If there is one thing the devil hates, it is prayer, because prayer moves the Holy Spirit to work. Therefore it is very important that you pray at all times. If you have set a prayer time make sure you don't skip it.

The advice that you have received about,

"Jesus is our example. If we are not in close communion with the Father, how will we be able to hear His instructions when discerning and praying for deliverance? We need to fast and pray if we find our faith and closeness with God being attacked, then we will be able to exercise our faith when praying for others and see them set free in the name of Jesus."

....is very good advice, and if you have a friend or two who can pray with you about the situation than that would be even better. I understand the women's forum are currently having prayer meetings, that you could join.

"For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
(Mathew 18:20)

It's normal to be suspicious about these situations, and if infact these people are secretive about what they do, than you have to be careful. Godly people usually have nothing to hide, especially in these situations, and if these people are genuine they would have sensed your discomfort and put you at ease, answering your questions. If you did sense something wasn't right than you're most likely correct. The only way you'll really know is through prayer.

Godbless!

Thank you for all your responses, prayers and advise, I do appreciate them.

I don't understand a lot of things, and I keep telling myself, God will reveal those answers to me when He is ready and not in my time. I just need to trust Him, and wait and be patient.

My spirit doesn't feel right, towards a lot of things, and I am not content. I am praying in tongues, it seems, it's all I can do at present, as my own tongue prayers, just seem empty. I have tried praying, but they just seem empty.

I had two visions, one some time ago and one last night, they were:

  • The first was, that I saw a face, with skin over the eyes. Later on it was revealed to me, what that meant. The people are still in darkness and the scales have not yet been taken off their eyes. They have not walked away from sin.
  • The second vision was, I saw many people lined up in a row, holding hands. My next thought, which came to my mind was this scripture: Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

This might not be related to my original post, as I have had several things on my mind, but I just thought I would share it with you.

Dear Word of Life,

please do this...

Whisper ,"Jesus" over and over and over again. You may not be able to pray much in your mother tounge at the moment, but you can say His name. Do this. Then, after that is all you are saying, add ...thank you Jesus...then again, after some time, bless you Jesus, and then Praise you Jesus. Continue confessing His name until you are free...till your prayers start to flow again. You will find this easy if you really love Him, to just keep whispering His beautiful name.

Please look again at what I wrote before. Your husband's present infatuation with deliverance type work is for a season, and like any child, when a new toy or idea/discovery is still new, he can't stop being interested and enjoying it. It is exciting to him. I pray he remembers to listen to the LORD as he comes to grips with this aspect of spiritual things, (and he puts love first, love towards you, and doesn't mix notions of his desire to set you free with loving you, i.e. doing it/insisting on it because he loves you. This may be the case, but we must be careful not to become heartless in our zeal. Likewise, you must remember to love him, first, which, if you look at the fruit of the Spirit, includes patience and forbearing one another. Remember, too that it is the fruit of ...the Spirit.) Jesus said "Listen" quite a lot...look for yourself. It is so very important that we all listen to the Lord , and follow Him.(and not ourselves, nor man)

If you look at the ministry of Jesus as He walked amongst us, deliverance was an/the integral part of the good that He did. So it is not a bad thing to cast out demons, but it is not play, and we must follow the Lord's way. Jesus said He did His Father's will, not His own.

Bless you,

my prayers and love,

Br. Bear..........and remember, Jesus.....Jesus...
