Didn't get the Job

Hi All -

About 2 weeks ago I applied for a job at my church. I'm already an employee in a different area. At first glance I dismissed that this job was for me or even something that I was interested in. However, when several other members and employees approached me and said that I would be perfect for this position and that I NEEDED to apply I took it as a push from God. I figured he was wanting me to head down this new path.

Anyway - I interviewed and was considered but wasn't offered the job. I'm now finding myself confused and frustrated. I know sometimes that it's difficult to hear God's voice but in this case I felt like he was screaming at me. I'm sure there's a spiritual reason that either God changed his mind or that I missed the point.

Is there anything I can do to get past this? Any insight or scripture would be most helpful as I deal with this. I'm trying to get my thoughts together so I can have a chat with God sometime soon...

Thanks
Craig

P.S. My church is what most would consider a "Mega" church. We have over 1700 families in regular attendance. That's why there's a large staff incase anyone was wondering!

Dear thomsonc I am very sorry for your dissapointment.

I belive that if it was God's will and you were suppose to get this job, you will be in it. Since you did not get it, it is a clear indication that it was not God's will.

At first glance I dismissed that this job was for me or even something that I was interested in. However, when several other members and employees approached me and said that I would be perfect for this position and that I NEEDED to apply I took it as a push from God. I figured he was wanting me to head down this new path.

You were mislead by people and what they think and you put your hope in what they said, seeing it as a push from God. We must never dismiss our initial reaction to things because most of the times that is the Spirit of God speaking to us. It is when we start thinking and analysing that we become confuse and make the wrong dicisions.
It is not that you are not good enough or not capable of doing the work, it could be that God wants you to muture a little more - if you are not properly prepared for what God calls you to do - it can become a mess, and God wants to make sure that you are equipped for what He calls you to do.

Act 20:24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

I'm giving you this scripture to encourage you to not let this dissapointment bring you down. Keep on running your race as you have done and God will reward you for being faithful.

Never give up, it is not worth it and we the church of Christ need you - without you doing your part, many will be poorer in life and miss out on a lot of blessings that God wants you to be to others.

I'm sure that the reason for you not getting the work will be revealed to you and in this understanding you will be gratefull that you did not get it. Maybe there is just one person that needs you where you are and that is worth waiting for a promotion.
Don't be in a hurry to progress, enjoy the journey where you are and be the best that you can be.

Lots of love.:love::girl_hug:

Blessings!

When seeking God’s will:
(1) make sure your plan is in harmony with God’s word,
(2) ask mature Christians for their advice,
(3) check your own motives – are you seeking to do what you want or what you believe God wants,
(4) pray for God to open and close the doors of circumstances.

O Beloved, the will of God is simply that you submit yourself to Him each day and say, “Father, Your will for today is mine. Your pleasures for today is mine. Your work for today is mine.”
Take one day at a time.
Tomorrow will care for itself and remember, God is God over all tomorrows.

Blessings!

Thanks

Thanks for your insight. It makes a lot of sense.

God also drew me to watch a movie called "Facing the Giants" yesterday. There were a lot of parallels between the coach and my life. Was very powerful.

I think I'm almost ready for my chat with God about this situation...

I agree with sister Ann's resopnse. GOD is perfect and all knowing, so He does not need to change His mind. His first thought is the perfect thought. These people misled you. Always pray the Father's will be done. If you pray this sincerely, the rest is in GOD's hands so nothing to frustrate about after. Depend on the Holy Spirit hearing your prayer instead of the results of man accepting or rejecting your job offer.
