We all know about dinosaurs and the fossils left behind that are still to be discovered. Its no secret. Now you probably know where I am going with this..... Now in Genisis God made the earth then man, woman, animals, and so on. Now that being said and the evidence we have from fossils of dinosaurs that are now extinct, does this mean our ancestores lived among dinosaurs. Or did God maybe make dinosaurs before man?
I dont know what to think about this and its not really a big deal but you would think that there would be some reference to these giant creatures in the OT. Does anyone know something about this?

Some theologians believe in the book of Job, in the bible, that "the huge creatures" referred to were possibly dinosaurs. That's about all I know.

Having just read the previous posts i have a whole jumble of thoughts to get out so excuse me if i dont express them to well.To start with evolution-what a load of bunkum!You could ask any scientist about the transitional link between ape and man and hand on heart he would have to tell you it isnt really there.For something that supposedly happened over a period of millions of years every time you went out to dig your garden you would be unearthing some monkeylike skeleton.Far from being an ample fossil record there is very little,often finds being exposed as fakes anyway.Today we still have a diverse spectrum of human beings,pygmies,aboriginies,white people,black people,yellow people and tribes in remote jungles where adults all grow to above six foot.It has been the same down through history,evidence of evolution at work or Gods wondrous ggift of variety?Darwin only ever put this forth as a theory and it is an insult to teach it in many schools as fact.Scientists are well aware of the gaping holes in the evolution theory but what is the alternative for them?A creator?An all-powerful being?Whereas the account of creation in the bible is flawless ,for scientists to admit the presence of a divine God and all the questions it raises(accountability,who is he,where did he come from)is really to much for them so they hide behind a flawed but safe theory.Interestingly Isiah 40v22 says"there is one dwelling above the circle of the earth"didnt scientists INSIST the world was flat?hmmmm.Just a few bullet points to finish on.Scientists would agree that a global flood would have much the same affect on the earth as a "ice age".Carbon dating is not an accurate science,it can be out by tens of thousands of years.Finally a "creation theory" i once heard that made a lot of sense to me.What was the purpose of dinasours?Apparently these huge beasts would have eaten collosal amounts and excreted tons every day.Could it be they were part of Gods plan to make ready a fertile,verdant earth for the coming of mankind?Now before you jump on my back about this,im not saying its true,its just a theory?

So to answer your Question as to when these huge creatures roamed the earth. It is my belief that it was after God created the animals but before he created man.

Thanks for the links Strypes and Teraside. I read most of the link you gave me Teraside and from what I understand is that yes dinosaurs lived with man.

The dates are not consistent from any group but I think they are irrelevant.
They roamed the earth at one time or another and seeing that man was one of Gods first creations then I must assume that man lived among dinosaurs.

The only thing that I can think of that might have a different outcome, is how long is a day to God? Is seven days to man as long as it is to God? We calculate time by using the sun, but I dont think God does and the sun was created after the earth no?

What I am saying is maybe dinosaurs ruled the earth for only a short time in Gods eyes and millions of year in our time.
When I read Genesis it seems to me that Adam and Eve were only in the garden of eden for a day before they were cast out but for all we know they could have been there for millions of years, while also dinosaurs were roaming the earth as well. And seeing that it was a perfect world man could have lived next to all of Gods creatures (dinosaurs) in peace.

As far as when they became extinct, I dont know, maybe they were wiped out by the great flood of Nohas ark????
I thing this is all possible but this is just my theory, what do you think.....

One thing some scientists are thinking wiped out the dinosaurs, wasn't a catastrophic event, but suffication. Most Dinosaurs had nostrils the size of a horses. After the flood the landscape of the world was much different. There was not as much Oxygen in the air, so it would have been more difficult for a large animal to breath. Also, Man was given the authority to eat some types of animals, and what would make a better steak than a dinosaur? I figure after the flood, the ones that didn't die of suffication, were killed off by man.

Hey Justin, I have to disagree with your opinion here brother. Yes, sure, the Bible does say a day is different to God than man, but I also believe that when Genesis was written, when God wrote it, He must of taken into account that we would question how He did it.

The opinion you have is quite dangerous my friend, you leave room for the evolution theory to influence your belief in God. My friend, I can't say it clearer as this: If God said He made the world in 7 days, He made the world in 7 days. Full stop. Story over and done with, God is not the catalyst for evolution, He did not initiate evolution a couple of million years ago and made sure everything went well, no, that's why God is the creator!

If God tells me in His word, I am, I believe He is. If He says He made the world in one nano second, I will believe that too. GOD IS GOD! We can't begin to fathom, realize the power our God has, do you realize how powerful He is? It seems to me you are doubting Him. Believe brother, believe! The world was made by the Father through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I am on an extremely slow internet connection this week, so I can't post the scripture for you, but I will come back to this thread around next week and update.

Edit: The world was created in 6 days, I said 7, as I take the whole creation into account, including Gods rest.

The only other consideration concerning the length of a day at the time of creation might be Einstein's Theory of Relativity. But please be careful that you do not become consumed with finding answers for every question, remember this is a faith walk with God and Jesus is to be the center and focus of learning. The heaven and earth will one day pass away but Jesus is forever.
