Hi,

Anyone had experience with discerning of spirits ? I would like to know what it is.

Thanks.

Discernment of spirits is usually manifest as a deep down knowing (in your spirit) and has nothing to do with your 5 senses. This like all gifts comes quite naturally to one who walks in the Spirit. Like all gifts it cannot be worked up or earned but is given severally as He wills.

Discerning spirits is, I think, the knowledge of whether a spirit comes from God or from the devil, and its usually something you just know. 1 Corinthians 12 talks about Christians being given gifts by the Holy Spirit, and in verse 10, it says discernment of spirits is one of them. And in 1 John 4, it talks about spirits and how to test them to see if they are from God or not.
Hope this helps.

Discernment is seeing and understanding the differences between truth and those who claim to have truth.

For example, someone says to you that they can not heal you because your faith is not strong (false) Jesus healed everyone and many who did not believe (truth) (Matthew 4:24; Luke 4:40). He healed all the time and in many different places, not in some studio with carefully controlled circumstances of people who had been pre screened before coming to Him, as is standard procedure with healers today.

Jesus actually healed macrobiotic type diseases like leprosy, blindness, paralysis that were truly verifiable. He never healed anyone with a headache or back pain, stubbed toe or hang nail. He even healed the ultimate disease - death with Lazarus. (John 11:10-44) No one believed Jesus could raise him from the dead. Martha was good enough to let Jesus know that Lazarus was dead four days and stunk in verse 39. And Jesus in verse 42 said that HE knew God always hears Him but He said for the benefit of the people so that they may believe God sent Him.

His healings didn’t require faith as a prerequisite. Most of those He healed were unbelievers for example the man chained outside the city.

Jesus healed instantly and the people were healed immediately (Matthew 8:13; Mark 5:41-42; Luke 5:24-25). They didn’t have to go home and start to get better which is the advice of many faith healers. He also healed totally, the blind beggar could see instantly and Peter’s mother in law was fully functional. (Matthew 20:34)

If faith healers really could heal the sick and infirmed, why are they not descending into the hospitals, healing everyone in sight and releasing them? Why are they not in Africa curing all the AIDS cases? Why do they blame their lack of healing on a person’s little faith or lack there of instead of healing them immediately as Jesus did?

They do not because they can not.

Many who waste their money padding the false prophets bank accounts reject Christ in the long run because of these false promises they believe. More often than not they turn around and blame God for not doing what the healer has promised.

There are those who would say that reciting a little prayer saves a person, but that isn’t in step with the Bible either. Or those who believe that baptism will ensure a person’s entrance to heaven. If a baptism or a little prayer guaranteed entrance to heaven, what was the need for Jesus? Why would we need someone pure to stand for us if either of these were true?

The man hanging on the cross with Jesus was told that 'today you will be with me in Paradise" (Luke 23:43) Baptism is a ceremony of total commitment to Christ and live as God commands, unfortunately like this man, some do not get the chance to commit the rest of their lives to Christ or baptism.

Test the spirits to know which is of God and which is not. (1 John 4:1)

Well there are and have been Christians that were given the gift of healing and it only operates as the spirit wills. They can't just turn it on when they feel like it. The late Kenneth E. Hagin was such a man has shared a lot about his ministry in many books. The people on the receiving end need to do their part as well. Not saying its easy to believe to receive healing this way but the good thing is that there is more than one way to get healed. Obviously anyone that's charging for a healing is not someone you should trust. The things of God are free.

Yes, the things of God are free (Rom 6:23)
